took my first******and hot shower in the StabbinCabin this AM.....turns out i didnt need a new toilet....managed to fix the broken handle/part, reset it with new gasket (aqua magic IV)....POOP!n....then getting it back hooked up so it would not leak was another deal....back to the RV store for more fittings.....will need a new fitting on my fresh holding tank.....no biggie there (i think)....the most frustrating thing thus far is the hookup where im parked...im having to do alot of PVC plumbing rework just to get water to the SC...old plumbing on the house, fix on thing, then another lets loose (sounds kinda like the SC).....either way a major PIA....showering in the SC is kinda janked up.....the wood under the shower pan is rotted to the floor pan is cracking where i step.....im not really into replacing the shower/and sub structure....so....i dont step on some areas of the shower floor....mostly sit on the head and shower....either way its short lived im afraid.....the more i dig into the thing the more i see how much $$$$$ i could dump into it....while i could spend a 3K on a similar/later model that was better kept up....but this will do for now.....and for $1K that i paid i should be able to get that back out if/when i decide to "upgrade".....but it will work for now.....for now..... later! sc |

Starting Question: When I start my 74 w/360 I have to pump the bejeebers out of it. It always starts just have to pump it alot. Is there a change I could make that would make it easier to start? Not complaining, I forgive a vehicle alot as long as it starts, just wondering if some of your old rigs are the same as mine. I don't think anyones dying statement ever contained the words "I wish I had spent more time in the office", so lets go somewhere! |

Al - put an electric fuel pump inline back near the tank and hook it to a toggle switch on the dash. Flip the toggle, wait a couple seconds, turn the key and vroooooom. At least, that's how it works on ours ![]() As far as I know, most old Mopars are like that. '73 Concord 20' Class A w/Dodge 440 - see profile for photo |

"I'm sorry but our insurance doesn't allow us to work on them" is an excuse not to, not an actual fact... "I'm sorry I don't have the equipment or trained people" might be. They're not hard to do... I was doing them in a gas station in the 70s with tire chains and the car hoist to act as the safety barrier in case the rim wasn't seated properly (didn't have a cage).![]() Get rid of 'em - most tire places won't mount/dismount tires on them any more. No, MasterBoondocker... The "Split bead" rim is what they are talking about and is commonly referred to as "split rim" (at least since the late 60's as I remember)... I don't remember ever seeing a "real" two-piece rim on a highway capable vehicle (Open pit cooper mine yes ![]() This "split" controversey is a shame. EQUIPMENT and TRAINED PEOPLE ??.. LOL JUST as long as you use common sense and CARE ... that is all you need. And there ARE shops that work on these all-the-time. And K-guy ... there ARE "real" split rims. And THOSE are the ones that are to be "feared". |

Remember, todays fuels SUCK compared to the gas used in 1974. It evaporates quickly, that is one reason why it takes so long to pull the fuel back to the carb. In the olden days, it stayed in your carb. Today, it disappears quickly! Glad to see this thread still alive! I was getting lonely! ![]() Spring can't come fast enough in my book. And since it's still -7° outside, I don't think winter will ever end! She ain't purdy, but at least she's slow! ![]() |
