I know the feeling - I had to pass a couple cars driving ours home, including a Jaguar [emoticon]

Wow, go work on It and everyone shows up.....

Glad you got out, 75AC, does you good to pass "unpaid-for" vehicles, don't it?

Leeann --your shocks. Gonna take a wild guess and hope mine are the same.
Your new Monroes are *what* part number?

Driving up to Sands RV tomorrow. With cash, but if I cannot bring It in under its budget (excluding engine, tires, and wheels), It will go for sale.
Life's too short.

Trish-

Monroe RV shocks - 555013 front, 555012 rear. Monroe's online shock selector thing says we have the same shocks...they claim [emoticon]

Aw, heck. And I was starting to like It, too....

Now wait a second, Trish-

What did I miss? Are you bailing on the new rig already? nothing can be THAT bad, can it?

She ain't purdy, but at least she's slow!

It's definately oil smoke (blue) I put an Edlebrock carb on and it runs great.
Smokes at start up and on deceleration. Seems worse when driving slow through town..
I'm pretty sure it needs rebuiding.... Just trying to justify the cost.
Me and the wife and the dog love it and everything else works and we've done so much to it.....
I totally agree with you guys about the lack of a payment book...and you WILL work on a new one too! The more I see friends mess with new ones with digital control boards and other "bells and whistles" going out and giving problems the better I like my old simple to fix 79!
I think I just justified!!

Soon to be smoke free Retro...

You know, Retro, oil is a lot cheaper than a rebuild! Being the cheap Midwesterner that I am, I'd invest in a case of oil and simply let it burn away! [emoticon]

But if you're serious about a rebuild, see if you really need one first. Do both a compression test and a leak-down test. If your cylinder pressure is good (and you have decent oil pressure anyway), then simply pull your heads and have a valve job done.

Problem solved! [emoticon]

Hey guys....

Leeann-- thanks. Rr shocks are new, it's the fronts.

Long day, tell you about it in the morning.
Sands is neat, but the owners weren't there, so I got no glass.
Or a roof vent or cargo doors or or or or. Sheesh, they don't carry Eternabond; 2d RV place I've been in 4 days with no Eternabond.

I'm not up for a 5-yr project.
Yeah, It grows on you. Like fungus but hey.
