Topic: How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

Posted By: Griff in Fairbanks on 09/16/07 02:40pm

Did a little snooping and found a number of references to Dodge F30, most of which were for Class C motorhomes.

The Sportsman/Tradesman vans are/were the B-series. The Kary Van was the CB-series.

Kary Vans had box bodies installed by Dodge.

My guess is the F-series was the van cut-away model designation, which were delivered with a cab but no body.

Look for 1977 B300 parts ... most should be the same.

Will keep looking, you have aroused my curiosity.

1970 Explorer Class A on a 1969 Dodge M300 chassis with 318 cu. in. (split year)
1972 Executive Class A on a Dodge M375 chassis with 413 cu. in.
1973 Explorer Class A on a Dodge RM350 (R4) chassis with 318 engine & tranny from 1970 Explorer Class A

F3 = B300
4 = Hi Line Wagon, MB3 Hi Line
B = 6001 - 10000 GVW class
F = 360 2bbl
7 = 1977
V = Warren
026324 = Build Number

From the 1975 Supplement to the 1974 B- and CB-Series manual

The Class of the Chinook is one reason why I was looking up the VIN, to see if it would tell me. It is NOT a van conversion, it has a separate Chinook Body, placed on the Chassis. That would be a C?

It's a Class C.

Class C motorhomes have a Tradesman/Sportsman B-series cab and a body/coach built by someone other than Dodge. (Or equivalent for those other manufacturers ... you know, Ford and Chevrolet.)

Class B is commonly called a van conversion ... complete van cab and body by Dodge, modified by another manufacturer to make it a recreational vehicle.

(Aside: Are 'shaggin' wagons' considered recreational vehicles??)

Class A has a cab and body manufactured by a third party.

When hunting for Class B and Class C parts, look for B300 parts ... they're usually the same.

Class A parts may be the same as the P-series, S-series, B-series, D-series, W-series, RM-series, M-series, L-series, C-series, MBL-series, MBH-series, or whatever else Mother Mopar manufactured/had laying around. (That's why Leeann and I sometimes pull our hair out ...)

I will repeat an offer I made to Leeann and expand it to others: I will host pages on my site for anyone that wants.

1. It can't be just a brag sheet ... it must contain information and experiences that will be useful to others.

2. It can't be advertising ... if you're a commercial venture, you can provide an address, phone number, logo, and/or weblink but the info must be useful to the motorhome public.

3. It can't contain anything that might get me sued or shut down.

4. I'll work with you but I retain the final aye or nay.

5. Copyright issues can be discussed and, regardless, credit will be given for posted content.

If anyone wants to organize information contained in this looooong thread into a single coherent form pertaining to a specific topic, I'll help. (for example: the recent gas tank info.)

I will do the HTML formatting, image editting, et cetera, ad nauseam, if you can't or don't want to. (Editting and formatting is easy -- coming up with the original words is difficult.)

I would really like to turn my site into a reference for owners of older motorhomes but can't do it by myself.

BTW - my domain/site is Griffin's Portal and the motorhome stuff is (currently) Griff's Custom Classic Motorhome Projects. I anticipate keeping that as a cohesive section, with other sections for other people and reference material.
