Fixed it for you. [emoticon]

Yeah.... OK! [emoticon]

6.7 cummins

That's a 5.9 Fish. My buddies truck did the exact same thing aND it was the plug on the ECM was dirty. I cleaned the plug and has been running strong for two years now with no other issue.

Keep fishin' bud.

My mistake... I posted the wrong link. Here's the 6.7 soot clogged EGR/DPF. Just in case anyone (place cummins9824V here) doesn't think the almighty cummins is above problems.

6.7 cummins

I suppose you're going to try to convince the folks who prefer gas power their trucks have the same problem! [emoticon]

The problem in that video is not the engine. It's the Crappie that was put on it to clean it up.

That's what I would do,keep starting it and listen to it idle and clog it even more.......

Hence the attraction to own a gas powered truck that doesn't have all the emissions junk that will cost $$$$ to repair or replace. It's just a matter of time. The engine/emissions is no better than the weakest link and the emissions is typically were the problems begin and the $$$$ start flowing.

Notice I used 4 digit dollar signs for a reason. [emoticon]

I really miss my diesel BUT not the high maint and repair costs, my 09 3v v10 f350 tows great except up long huge hills, the fuel economy sucks but its so smooth and quiet and reliable. I am going to install a custom made larger gas tank AND a remote mounted turbo back where the muffler is maybe 5-7 psi boost to cure my missing a diesel.

That's one thing that is nice about where I live. I don't worry about that stuff. It's nice not having all the black soot on my boat and RV after a trip but one thing's for sure, If I have problems with mine it won't be on there.

I think this thread has to be the longest continuous thread in Any forum history...except maybe the "Post your Miles" one on various diesel Sites...lol

The arguments pro / con - diesel / gas will continue till the last drop of oil is refined...to be replaced with the argument of how you charged up your Electric Vehicle...somehow I don't think I will will be around to hear or participate in that argument.

I'm still driving the same vehicle since 2007.
2006 White GMC Sierra 2500 D'Max Allison CCSB

It has required steady maintenance...no question. But other than a set of Head gaskets 2 yrs ago that were blown by my own stupidity (over boosted while pulling the 5th back to Calgary from BC), the rest has simply been fluids and wear parts. I would note that those same wear parts are applicable to ANY Gas powered truck as well....just saying eh.?

Of course at the time, with the motor apart, it seemed logical to remove the last vestiges of the EGR (good riddance), replace the stock exhaust manifolds with much smoother contoured ones by PPE, New up-pipes, a larger downpipe and a "Sinister" intake. Now virtually emissions FREE.! So there Di Caprio, stick that up your arrogant little (_i_)...(another in a long line of Hypocritical Hollywood TOOLs that have come up to Alberta - Fort McMurray and railed about how our "disastrous" Tar Sands are destroying the planet.) Funny that, but Venezuela and California have heavy oils that are significantly HIGHER in Carbon content - emissions than the Oil Sands bitumen. Yet we never see/hear of anyone protesting that..?? But what the hell do they know anyway..?? They should all stick to singing and entertaining.
However, I digress....

At 305,000 miles, this truck literally runs smoother than the day I drove it off the lot. And I see no reason to not continue driving it till the day I am buried in it. 21.5 mpg hi way at 75mphr...all day long, and comfortable since I installed a set of Avalanche 8 way power leather htd seats back in 2014.

If anything the body will disintegrate before this engine/transmission combo ever will. Still on original injectors-fuel system, attributable I believe to triple filtration. So all in all, I'm pretty happy with this American - well made machine...god help us all when the Chinese start making and selling Diesel trucks....LOl...!!

cheers y'all.!!

If it hasn't been covered - cruise control works much better with a diesel while towing..

I used cruise control with all four Cummins Rams and with my last two gassers. No problem with any of them.

My '01.5 and '03 Cummins Rams shifted on every overpass as well. From O/D to direct where the gassers shift from direct to 2nd (3rd with the F250). I'm still not seeing a problem.

Truck at work went in for a regen problem and a CEL...nine days, two exhaust filters, and about $8000 later, it is back. Gas power is a better choice now.
