I'll be the first to admit that I'm pretty much NON Tech Savy, but right now i can't see it being any worse than it currently is.
Maybe now we'll be able to get our signature photos back that just mysteriously disappeared.

Exactly. I don't know if you post many pictures here, but it can be pretty painful sometimes. FB's photo hosting is so much simpler. The new community site will work more like FB.
So glad to hear that it will be similar to FB. I rarely tried posting pictures because with my slow internet speed it was difficult to use and didn't load properly.

I forgot to mention that there will be a Like button, which we've needed for years.
Maybe some of you remember the debacle when we added a Like button here and had a contest for the most likes. It was such a disaster that the button was soon disabled and never returned.
Button = Good
Button + Contest = Disaster

How about the search feature?
Will the pictures that have been hosted "off site" disappear?

Hey Pianotuna - Yes, the new site will have a Search feature, and it's supposed to actually work. The Search function should work against ALL of our content including the years of posts that RV.NET's Search couldn't access.
I don't know for a fact, but I suspect that the existing photos will be referenced via links just like they are now. New posts should link to photos on the new site and old posts will link to photos wherever they're currently hosted.

I’ll guess I’ll be the first to say hate it but I’m just one. I don’t do FB, X, or any other “social media” sites. Don’t see the value of @‘s or #’s but seems to be a common feature. I like this site for its simplicity (except of course for pictures). But I’ll give the new site a try for a few days.

I did find it--click the little human icon
However it will NOT let me log in
and yes I do have my user name and password correct.

I know change can be good. And having owned and operated websites like this site in the past, it's not easy.
Im hoping it's not totally like FB. I too don't use FB and really like the simplicity of message board forums like this. I also think this site is way over due for an upgrade, so I'll take it with a grain of salt and see how it goes.
