Does anyone have any current reports on what the road conditions are? Is there damage and flooding from Norma?

Try running a route to Mazatlan with Waze, and see what it shows.
Mike. Comments are anecdotal or personal opinions, and worth what you paid for them.

According to the news here, the Maxipista was closed for several hours due to flooding from Norma and reopened the same day.
Acapulco is another story.....

Thank you. I just heard today that the roads are a mess but under repair everyday.

Happy to be of service.
We drove the Maxipista probably 15 years ago two weeks after a big hurricane crossed right over it between Cuilican and Mazatlan. The damage to the buildings in the area was amazing. Even the kilometer markers along the side of the road were blown down flat in areas. The road, however, wasn't bad. The biggest issue was where it went to one lane because of the water undercutting the road.
Norma has been probably two weeks ago, things shouldn't be bad now at all.

I drove north to the border the last couple of days. The road between Mazatlan and Los Mochis is the worst I have ever seen it. Huge potholes, small potholes, and every size in between. Lots of patches that are not holding up. There is still lots of flooding of the farm fields.
Take your time and go slow.

Thank you ever so much. Glad we held back one week. Crossing now November 4th. We never drive more 55 -60 mph. Sometimes I think one can walk faster than drive in some areas.
