I was winterizing my rig today, and came across the issue pictured below. I have 5 seasons running them and was hoping for a 6th before replacing.. Looks like I will have new tires before heading out in the spring..

Better you found it now rather than 250 miles from nowhere. Besides 5 years, its time to replace 'em anyway.

Looks like you hit something on the road. I think I would break it down, inspect from inside. Unless the area is bulging out, indicating belts are damaged, boot it, fill break with patch cement, use for spare

Looks like a road hazard to me. You could change out with your spare, if you wanted to stretch another year, with no long distance travel in mind. If a separation though, the other tires may be soon to do the same.
Yup, safe bet, all new tires! Got my new tires/wheels from Gallagher tire, right next door to you. Good price, very helpful sales guy!

Yep, I'd say that's bona-fide road hazard damage.

I am with road hazard. Must have run over something with a sharp edge. Doesn't look like any kind of "normal" failure.

It's Road Hazard plain and simple. Those tires only loose the center three ribs. I know as I have lost many.
I went to Continental's nearly two years ago and have zero issues.

I figured it was road hazard, just surprised it was curb side, rear axle.. NTHING wrong on the tire in front of it.. Oh well, No sense covering for winter, they are just on for support over the next few months..
