Is all DEF fluid the same? I usually buy the Blue DEF but it's now about $20. Our local hardware store has the Blue DEF and another one that is $12.99. I did buy the Blue DEF but just wondered if the cheaper one would be ok.

It's cheaper to buy it from a pump at a fuel facility. I get mine from the pump at Quarles for around $4 something a gallon.

Or buy the Walmart Brand for $9 to $12 for 2 1/2 Gal. Been using it since 2005 in three different trucks and no issues.

DEF is regulated to be a specific formulation so they are basically all the same.

Recently Costco had blue def for $12 for 2.5 gallons. I just buy from places that likely have decent turnover of the fluid so it hasn't been sitting on a shelf for months and months.

DEF is DEF. I don't spend more for the Blue. I either get it from Walmart, or from the pumps at a truck stop (I like Maverick).

If you buy it at Walmart (or anywhere) I'd look for the expiration label. From what I have read, expired DEF won't hurt your engine, but you will use more.

Very simple formula. No perceived difference between suppliers of DEF.

Some stores offer a premium DEF - Platinum I think... You don't need that. Just buy the regular Blue DEF. Last time I had to look around for the cheaper stuff.

Tractor Supply and Walmart seem to have the best prices, even for name brands
