I don’t normally leave the propane on, especially while traveling. I’ve never traveled over 5 hours away so the refrigerator is just an ice cooler for the trip.

If you press mode button and watch the light it will go to 3 positions left is AC middle is AUTO and right is Gas. My Dometic does this.

Did you check the fuse on the circuit board on the back of reefer?
