I’m looking at purchasing a 2008 Forest River Lexington 283. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of this manufacturer or this model?

If I were looking at an RV that was 15 years old I would be less concerned with brand or model and more about the condition. I have had 2 Fr products and pretty happy with them but you could pick a top of the line brand and it wouldn't matter if it wasn't taken care of vs a lower end brand that was immaculate.

Yes absolutely , condition more than brand.
If you are downsizing from an A to a C , the ride might be different due to the different chassis. Research the handling end of things.

Consider hiring a pro rv inspector to examine it. Might be money well spent !

In general , cabover designs have gotten better over the past 15 years . Older class C’s had more issues with leaking cabovers from roof seams, clearance lights and cabover windows.
Look for water stains or painted over panels trying to hide such.
Water will seek a low point. Cabover leaks can follow a path and puddle on a floor.
Use a flashlight to inspect dark corners.
