I don't want this to be a tire bashing thread, ALTHOUGH, I may have purchased my last ever TRAILER tire.
This is for a utility trailer (not a camper).
As I've searched around, I find the search engines lacking because NOT EVERYTHING is width, aspect, diameter...especially when it comes to 15-17" rims.
There's a bunch of passenger car tires, and a bunch of light truck tires, but no way to filter out the wrong load ranges.
Also, I could care less about the width and aspect ratio- pretty much anything will work for my application. I want to find a cheaper, load range E LT tire.
I'll probably just drop by a couple of stores, but with all of our modern computing power, it's not that bizzare of a search to ask for Load Range E 16 and get a list, rather than going one by one AND having to double check where they sneak in P (or even lighter tires with no designation.

Any tire mfgs website and every online tire retailer will list the specs for the tire you click on, including load index.
Even Amazon has the appropriate info with tires.
Not really sure what the question or confusion is.
But if you’re looking for 16” LT-E tires in place of 16” ST tires, 215-85-16 or 235-80 or 85-16 are your basic choices and I’m relatively certain those don’t come in passenger car P, C load, tires.

And yes the vast majority of tires are sized by width mm x aspect ratio% x rim dia inches.
If you’re finding old Like LT 7.50x16 or like 31x10.50x15 designations you’re most likely not looking for the tires you wAnt for your trailer.
Hope this helps?

You may get better responses if you would provide a little more information.
What is your current rim dimeter?
Have you tried Tirerack.com for information?

Not sure why you are having difficulty. I threw in 235/85/16 into discount tires website and first 10 tires on the list were Load Index 120 or higher.
Tried E-trailer with just 16" diameter and came up with similar results.
So is there something specific I'm missing?

I have a landscape business so I'm often buying trailer tires. The vast majority of the time, I'm getting a set off eBay.
But for what you're looking and the fact your ranges are so broad, I'd look for a good used set off Craigslist. Craigslist has a section for wheels and tires and if you put in something like "LT 16" in the search bar, you might find a nice slightly used set that could be perfect for trailer use.

Excellent choice. I have used these tires for many years with great results and also goodyear tires with no issues towing always a heavily loaded TT.
Tire Rack along with Walmart, Discount Tire, etc have good search engines for tires.

I ordered truck and ev tires the same way. I go to the dealer ad tell him what and what month and year the tires are made. Can you do that. always was a YES and I did this because I wanted as fresh as possible. Using the tires arrived in late June and because of this I never had a tires issue ever. Bought every 5 years for both truck and trailer. I never went cheap. I felt like I was in control of what I wanted and not on the road taking anything that was available .

Utility trailer, eh? Just go to WalMart, point at the trailer, and tell 'em to hook you up. I wouldn't spend an excessive amount of time shopping for them, but that's just me!
