Assuming the trailer was empty, when the hauler weighed it:
- Stuff you put in the trailer will generally increase the pin weight proportionally (20-25% of what you put into it).
- Add a couple hundred pounds for the hitch.
- Add 300-400 for the people (more if you have a large family).
- Add in firewood, gas, generator, etc... in the truck bed.
Don't be surprised if you aren't closing in on 5000lb once you are loaded for travel. That's definitely diesel dually size (and older diesel duallys may be overloaded)

When the rv was hauled for us, it already was fully loaded with all of our stuff, so that tongue weight the hauler reported should be the maximum weight. I should have mentioned that earlier. Thanks again to everyone for all the input, it's much appreciated.

Heck..
my truck has a max pin weight of 4020# and is a newer generation ( 2020 ) F350 SRW.. I also have disc brakes on the fiver, stopping in a panic is NOT an issue... IF your ok towing at MAXIMUM, it can be done safely

2. Only after doing your homework and research you will be able to answer these questions. There is web sites that will help you go through the process step by step.
3. Never believe a RV or vehicle/Truck salesman to give you the truth on how much you can SAFETLY tow. You have to do your own homework period. Did you know a 67 VW bug will pull a 18,000 pound RV! That is out of the Salesman's parking lot down hill.
4. Newer truck are soooo much better than the older models. Newer Diesel Trucks: Exhaust breaking for down hills breaking , speed control breaking automatically, tow haul mod and all around can tow much more.
5. Keep doing you homework and you find the answers. Lots of good people on this site to help you out.
#1, that's only in an emergency. In normal use, the truck stops itself and the trailer stops itself. Even a semi is in a world of hurt if they lose their trailer brakes.

Wanted to find your model truck online, no luck, can you send a link or pics?

Hope you weigh under 170# and have stripped everything including bolt on aftermarket parts if you want to stay within the limits.
(170# + 3850# = 4020#)
I'm not suggesting, the truck will immediately roll over and explode but it's misleading to suggest you can do it within the weight limits.
PS: Where do you find the "max pin weight" rating? I've only ever found the GVWR and axle ratings. Or are you speaking of the rating on the hitch which is independent of the truck ratings?

Its common for rv folks to claim their trucks gvwr based payload sticker is how much pin weight or truck camper weight they can load on their trucks rear axle (in the bed).
There is no one ton srw that can carry those big gvwr based 4000-4500 lb sticker loads in the bed over the 7000-7250 lb rawr without exceeding tire/wheel an rear spring pack.
They would need higher rated tires/wheels and rear suspension.
Another fallacy of using those new high gvwr or the payload sticker to figure how much pin weight...or truck camper weight their trucks can safely carry.

I'm chiming in a little late, but :
OP, glad you asked the question, but if you had ot ask, then you obviously knew there may be an issue. Never pulled anything like that has me concerned. Gather all the information you can, maybe get a few driving trailer lessons before you hit the road. We don't want to see you along side the road, down a mountain side etc. I have been towing for most of my life, trailers then the last almost 10 years fifth wheel, I still get nervous at times and slow way down to amintain control, I don't care that others are upset and frustrated because i slow them down. Just be smart, be safe so yo ucna live to enjoy!!!

I owned a 2006 6.0l Slowpoke and that's a bad combination imo. No way I tow that much.
