Our 94 Suburban cracked a head so were looking for a newer Suburban. Many of them seem to be all wheel drive, can you tow with those?

Our '14 Yukon XL has 2WD, "auto" and 4WD. The middle setting is computer-controlled clutching that drives the front when needed but can run on pavement.

There are other models with 4WD Lo + neutral as well.

I don't know of any other "AWD" configuration and either of the above should be fine for towing at least up to the rating.

Lol, what?
And I’m not aware of any GM full-size suv that is full time AWD. Not that it would matter.

I’d suggest doing some more research privately until you’re able to discern between drive systems and read towing capacities.
Wouldn’t even have a question if you actually looked up the towing cap for the rig you’re presumably considering.

My 2001 is the same as above (Auto, 2wd, 4hi, 4l) I just leave it on 2wd. My guess is sellers are listing them as Auto 4wd because it sounds like a bonus selling point to them.

Tahoe / Suburbans are 2WD or 4WD, not AWD.

Show me. I looked at the vehicle configurator and all I see are 2WD and 4WD options. The brochure also shows 2WD or 4WD, with 4WD being standard on the Z71 package.

DB WTH are you taking about? You’re loosing it here….re-read what you’ve written…
The brochure? Lol. Literally no one knows or has singled out a particular model or platform other than apparently newer than 1994….

I'll swag the burbs are like my 1500 pickup. You get a dial on lower left of dash, rwd is to the left, turning to right you get AWD, 4h, 4l options. I run in rwd 90+% of the time. AWD if it slushy, 4h if I feel I need 4wd. Previous rigs when towing in snowy areasi didn't have AWD option, used 4H.
