RV Life just posted an article that implies we can get Legionnaire's Disease from our freshwater systems in our RV's. It provides no data or any instances to support this claim and seems like a scare tactic to get more clicks to the site. It's very short on any facts or backed up by any science, Or any information at all except their speculation. My question to members is this, has anyone any first-hand experience on anyone getting Legionnaire's Disease from their RV water tanks or systems? Not any other conditions but confirmed cases of Legionnaire's Disease? In all my many, many years of living in our RV and decades of living on a boat and cooking, drinking, and bathing using the water from our tanks we have never had so much as a stomach ache. I would like to hear from anyone that has encountered this. Chuck

Fear is a great motivator even without supporting facts. Heck, made up facts to generate fear works equally as well.

From what I've seen of RV Life articles, they're mostly written by people with no professional background on what they're writing about. Just seems to be blogs and people looking to make a few bucks by writing articles. I read some, but now mostly give them a pass. They're usually looking to sell something rather than writing an unbiased piece. I'll bet there was a blurb about buying an aftermarket filter system somewhere in the article, with a link of course.

I agree and usually just pass on anything they write. But when I saw this actually featured on another forum that they support, I decided I wanted to see what it was all about. But I also wanted to bring it to the attention of others that might think it has some semblance of truth. There are a lot of new RVers that might not know better. Chuck

It is possible to get any number of diseases from an improperly maintained RV (or home) water system..... So long as you follow proper practice.. Sanitize every opening of season. Do not let it sit "Stagnant" for long periods of time.
I'd not worry.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

So diseases can spontaneously generate over the winter if you don't sanitize? Uh, I think not. (Poof)
