I’m looking at a Host Camper and have a GMC 3500HD truck. Does anyone know if I will have to remove the trucks stock antenna for the satellite radio before I mount the camper in the bed? Thanks in advance.

^^Neither did I, but I believe that the camper's aluminum frame interferes with reception. Everything works fine without it. I have not looked into a fix for that, but I'm sure there is one........

EDIT:
Seek and ye shall find. I know this doesn't answer your question, but I found a solution to my concern here

I will measure the clearance I have and post tomorrow. My guess is about 3".

Thanks for the replies. SSTHRD thanks for the link to install a new antenna. A lot of helpful information.

This is for my particular camper. Yours may be different.

It’s sitting on a ¾” stall mat, and I have about 5 ½ “ clearance over the antennae and about 7 ¼” between the cab and the overhang. 51” from bottom of camper to underside of overhang.

Hope this helps.

I tried those magnet mount antennae. Did NOT work on my 2014 Chev. I tried 3 of them.
I bought this and I am getting about 3 years of use. I have a piece of aluminum flat stock, that I drilled a hole in to fit the antenna, then fastened to truck by removing a bolt and then replacing it holding the flat stock in place.
