No. The $7.88 chair is NOT the same. I've had those. The frames are weak and don't hold up to frequent use. The fabric frays quickly.

It has nothing to do with Amazon and everything to do with build quality of the Coleman chair.

And for the record, WM sells the actual Coleman chair for $44.99 - $9 more than Amazon.

I'd still buy the WM chair (although I'd personally not buy any chair of that design), in that if they do wear out that quickly, I could replace it almost 5 times for the price of the Coleman chair, rather the Coleman 'branded' chair (we all know if you go through the Coleman plant you won't find a department where they actually build chairs).

If you're happy buying new chairs every year or two have at it.

I won't throw away my money on knockoffs any more because my 30+ year old Colemans and my 5 year old Colemans are still looking and working great while my cheap knockoffs lasted maybe two years max.

That I'll do [emoticon]

I think my main point was pointing out the misnomer that Amazon is always the best go-to for the lowest price. Far from it.

I purchase equipment and supplies online for my Son's business -- multiple times a day -- and yes, I occasionally buy from Amazon, however I can assure you that for fully 50 - 60% of my purchases, I can find the IDENTICAL item for less money than on Amazon, sometimes substantially less, even including shipping.

I didn't claim that Amazon was always the best price - I simply provided a link to the Coleman chair as the chair I have and prefer and that link happened to be for Amazon.

As for your main point, you didn't actually prove your claim in this case. The Coleman chair at WM is actually 20 percent more expensive than the Coleman chair at Amazon.

Can y’all slow down a bit until I get some more popcorn? Camp chairs…lol.
Btw Rick is right. Amazon is like the monster that is slowly swallowing everything and everyone.

Give it time and Amazon will continue to undercut other onlines, where they cannot, will become fewer and farther between until they have a monopoly (its close already) and then hold onto your @ss and wallet!
I’ve been sucked into it, half the time when I go to an actual store can’t find what I should be able to reasonably buy off the shelf and order it on my phone as I’m walking out the door, wishing I’d done that yesterday so I had it today when I wanted or needed it.
Recent example is even medical supplies, literally no way to purchase certain items except online. and when in a crisis like we’ve had recently, who gets em to your door first? Yup good ole Amazon.
Or yesterday, don’t have time with what’s going on at home, stop at Autozone for a can slam of AC recharge for one of our old cars. Wanted to get it working before I loan it to family next week cause it’s going to be hot out. Can’t buy refrigerant as a consumer in WA anymore. Or from Amazon. Different reason, same result. I will HAVE to support some online retailer on fleabay to get what I need. Far more political than Amazon related but same end story.

Problem is it’s hard to stop. It’s the new “general store” but with a lot more chinesium junk mixed in with the good stuff. Anyone who is still fooled by a pic on the internet and somehow thinks magic is real, I feel sorry for.

I have no need to prove any point, and if I did, I certainly wouldn't cite just one single example. Stick around, and if you'd like I'll let you know how this whole online buying thing works [emoticon] Just stating information that might be helpful to others.

Most of the time you get what you pay for. We have a pair of sturdy chairs that have been with us for more than 12 years. We also have a rocker type picked up on sale.

No regrets on paying out the extra cash for products that last.

I buy a lot from Amazon. But it is more about the convenience than the price.
I know I can trust Amazon to be convenient, secure, trustworthy and generally at a competitive price.
Price alone is not the determining factor.

Actually all you did was share a personal bias against Amazon. You didn't address the question about camping chairs, you simply latched on to one link to Amazon and claimed it was overpriced for the Coleman chair by citing a cheap knockoff chair at Walmart.

I think everyone is quite capable of doing research to get the best deal, or at least a price they like, on a product. And they can decide if they want to purchase from Walmart, Amazon, Camping World, etc, based on their own personal preferences.

OK, you're right, I'm wrong. Have a lovely day.
