After 2 cracked manifolds I replaced the cast iron manifolds with Thorley headers, not only do they reduce the heat to prevent cracking, but your HP will be increased also. I think the total cost was about $1200. Looking back I wish I went to the headers after the first manifold cracked.

I had a 1999 first gen v-10. Had it for over 125,000 almost trouble free miles, all pulling a toad. The 2 problems I had during this 13 yrs period were the serpentine belt idler pully bearing went bad and the starter relay died.
I did replace the manifolds shortly after i bought it with SS headers.... never had an issue as a result.

"the grease pit side of things" is what fixes things. The engineering side of things is what caused the issue to begin with.
