There are several good converters that are multistage charging which will protect the battery better. I like the Progressive Dynamics PD9100 with the charge wizard. It has maintained two 122Ah lead acid batteries for 12 years. Batteries are just a little weak now. But that fantastic for lead acid walmart batteries.
If you have a location it will fit somewhere, all required is to run a bit of wiring to get it back working.
Good luck.
I turn off all the breakers in the camper prior to turning on the shore power. The first time i plugged it into a non GFI, everything worked in the camper for about 30 seconds, then it tripped the breaker in my garage panel box. When i tried it again several times, the power in the camper went off right away.

thats awesome, I have a couple WFCO's laying around but friends don't let friends run WFCO converters haha..
seriously thought that is a great converter, it won't fit into your old spot, but you can mount it behind it if there is room, beside it in the bottom of a cabinet or whatever and just rerun the wires.

Stircrazy,
Ya roger. My electrical buddy is coming up 6 May. Priority is to find out the issue is. If it ends up not being the converter/charger, this one that I got from Mike will be going in regardless. I will find a spot to make it fit!! Thanks again.

Ok,
Thanks everyone. Well my buddy showed and about an hour into it, we/he found that the thermostat for my water heater was bad. We fixed that and everything was back to normal. We are working to put in the new converter/charger. More to follow. Pictures will be posted..
