After having nose surgery in march 2021 I finally followed up with the doctor this year. I told my doctor I am always tired. Doctor order me a sleep apnea test. My results came back. I have 6 events per hour where I stop breathing. In two weeks I start using a cpap machine.
I am hoping the cpap machine will help me and I won’t be tired all the time.

When you go CPAP shopping.. Some are designed to be run on Automotive level power (12-15 volts) perfect for RVers.. Humidifiers draw major power..

There are several other considerations as well but these are the two that most affect the fact you posted in an RV group.

I have an 87 year old friend of 60 years who, after many years on a CPAP, is on his 2nd month of using the Inspire.

He LOVES it!!!

He turns it on when he goes to bed and it shuts itself off 8 hours later (or he can shut it off sooner).

The basic hardware & surgery is in the $35,000 - $45,000 range without insurance.

My wife is still learning to get along with her CPAP. She is now using a BiPAP and next week will try an APAP. She was having 40+ episodes per hour, she has never been down to 6.

I have yet to get a straight answer as to what constitutes an "episode".

I have 5 events per hour. I just changed from a Resmed 10 to a Resmed 11 CPAC. The 11 is really quite but holds less water. When camping on battery power you can turn off the humidity and save some battery. The Resmed 10 is 5 years old and works so I will keep it for a backup.

I may be the only nay-sayer here, BUT I tried a CPAP for over a month. Could not find a comfortable mask to use. Being a side sleeper, I usually worked a mask off during the night. Worst thing was after an hour or two, I would wake up with a terrible headache. Seems the cool air blowing up my nose was equal to a "brain freeze". My episodes were caused more by leg spasms than interrupted breathing. I started using over-the-counter meds for restless leg and gave up the CPAP.....

I put my mask on for about a minute tonight. Too much air blowing up my nose. I don’t like anything on me or below my nose. I texted the person who fitted me and told her I want to bring the machine back.

As someone who suffers with a degree of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) which requires CPAP treatment, has read a lot about it, but not as professional advice or opinion:
With all due respect to you and this Chiropractor who appears earnest and well-meaning:

1) OSA can only at this time be diagnosed by a formal sleep study

2) during such a study you are asleep for much of the time and therefore unaware of how your breathing, oxygen levels etc are.
The sleep study is an objective one, providing measurements which can be used to diagnose and grade the quality of your sleep and the grade of severity of any OSA present and provide a way of comparing your OSA over time by doing more sleep studies if needed.
Where as your feelings etc about your sleep and how much better or worse you feel with no or some treatment are subjective - there are no measurements to back up and validate your feelings and observations ( and in any case you are asleep when your OSA happens so what observations can you make)?

I wonder if you maybe scrambled two posts? I being the Chiropractor, you maybe referencing to, posted on epidural steroid injection thread in Rving with disabilities, not this thread. Sleep apnea is not my area of expertise. I would not have an informed opinion on sleep apnea

I tried my machine last night. I was told I needed a good fit around my nose. Got a good fit around my nose and spent an hour listening to the noise of the air coming from the machine. I could not fall asleep. I took it off last night. I called the person who set me up with it and said I don’t want the cpap machine. They told me to give it two weeks. I may have given up to soon on the cpap machine but I slept once I shut the machine off.
I may go and get a second opinion.
