Well I actually worked on my old truck today. I've had other things that needed attention so it got put on the back burner.

I just replaced the valve cover gaskets that were leaking badly and the vacuum hose for the brake booster.

I was pleased that the inside of the engine is as clean as it is.

Cosmetic is a good thing too.

I certainly hope that's the case.
I wish I had pulled a valve cover when I first bought the truck.
Second worse neglected vehicle I have ever owned.

I changed the oil just a few days after buying it because it had been sitting for early 20 years and only driven on a few occasions.

2nd and 3rd oil changed done 100 miles apart I added a bottle of Amsoil engine flush just prior to changing the oil. It came out like black gasoline both times.

It actually runs great but I have no idea how many miles are on the engine.

These are the mirrors that came on the truck.

The mirrors were the first thing to get replaced.
I bought a set of cheap Chinese knockoffs that I thought were correct replacements.

I couldn't have been more wrong. I couldn't even open the wind wing. [emoticon]
No wonder why they were soo cheap.

Yesterday I installed another set of mirrors from LMC Truck.
You would think these are NOS rather than aftermarket mirrors.
They are perfect and exact duplicates of the factory mirrors.

Just one more example of you get what you pay for.

Brings back memories. I bought brand new a 1976 F 250 four by four regular cab 360 CI and a auto with 410 gears. I came with Goodyear tires big block tread and 16 inch wheels. Check and see if they made two different front axles as mine had a much bigger front locking cap with six or eight Allan cap screws holding it on . Manual locking hubs. That year uses a slave cylinder for the power steering that was prone to leaking. I was used on the farm pulling loads way more than it should like 6 ton fertilizer carts or a pallet of seed corn in the bed 3300 lbs I had it 26 Years longer than my first wife 23 years. Wish I still had it

All the 3/4 tons that year came with Dana 44 "Heavy Duty" front axles that used those big hubs like in the above picture like you mentioned. That is not a picture of mine. They are getting very desirable and hard to come by. I would love to have a set of them. The previous owner replaced them with Selectro hubs [emoticon]

The "power assist" power steering sucks. LOL Like you said they are prone to leaking.

There were only two engine options in those trucks, a 300 6-cyl and the 360 V-8.
Your choice of trans, C-6 auto or the NP435 4 speed.

And they only came with 4:10 gears. There were no other options for the gears.

Its a fun old truck and I'm enjoying it. It still needs a ton of work.

Last week I bought this 1976 Ford F-250 4-wd, gratefully it isn't a highboy. I really think I stole it after searching for another truck.

Body and paint a bit rough but very little to almost no rust.

Once I put my camper on my other truck I no longer have a PU. I've only taken the camper off of my truck once since March and I'll be using thru the end of November.

The truck needs a lot. Its been sitting outside for nearly 20 years. Started and driven a few miles about once a year.

It has a 390 2-bbl out of 1966 Mercury Monterey. Runs pretty good after giving it a tuneup.

Replaced a bunch of stuff like the grill, battery tray, dash pad, seat cover, brake/clutch pedal pads and some other misc stuff. Still have lots to go.

My new tires arrived Monday so I took some steel wool to the Dodge chrome wheels and then had the tires mounted and balanced.

I like it. [emoticon]

First thing I said to myself was, those on Dodge RAM wheels!
