I learned how to drive early as well, was plowing driveways with our old Blazer at 12.. running the old pickup off our farm with the 3 on the tree... and was taught how to drive in winter conditions on the frozen lake...
If these things happened today, the parents would probably be crucified ...

I had an "80" F250 P/U with a bucket seat from a Lemans bolted to the bed at the rear slider window..... The LEO used to make us take 1 person OUT if the cab and into the bed IF too many were up front...

I did more then I probably should have .Being raised in Montana things were a bit more liberal, plus you get your drivers license when you were 15 . So we got an early start to begin with .

I never did get out on the road before I had my license.
Not only would my parents not allow it but if caught by LE Id had to wait an extra year to get my license.
