Here is the preprint of the Pfizer study on the effectiveness of their vaccine against the new variants. The data indicates little loss of effectiveness of their vaccine.

Phase 1 results of J&J’s 2 low doses or 1 low dose vaccine show......

These data demonstrate that a single immunization with a relatively low dose of Ad26.COV2.S effectively protected against SARS-CoV-2 challenge in rhesus macaques. Moreover, our findings show that a higher vaccine dose may be required for protection in the upper respiratory tract compared with the lower respiratory tract.

Thanks for those two posts, Mark! As I watch Florida holding back Moderna and Pfizer vaccine to guarantee second doses for those who received their first shot - I'm praying the one-and-done J&J vaccine will get the process moving along faster!

I calculated that initially, there were 6 million+ people eligible for, and all trying to get vaccinated, in Florida. That number drops by anywhere from 1,000 to 10,000 vaccinations per week, so it's going to take a loooong time to get just the first "group" protected :-(

Novavax (2 dose vaccine) press release on phase 3 interim data review indicates good efficacy against the original and UK variants and lower efficacy against the South African variant. I’ll post the preprint of the study when it’s available.

I've been noticing complaints about vulnerability after receiving 2nd dose of vaccines. Someone is failing to notify people that it takes weeks, sometimes several to allow the body to produce adequate levels of antibodies after the 2nd jab. Personally I am going to allow 21 days after the 2nd jab to maximize production.
