First, sorry to the moderator for posting in the incorrect spot. And when I got the PM I did not see the message so I posted AGAIN on the wrong topic... Whoops.
So, Idaho as of yesterday is on a 21 day stay home if at all possible scenario. So I guess us "elderly" wandering aimlessly is not essential. It will be a long 21 days.
Stay safe all...

I think this is the type of technical data people need to be studying rather listening to the media heads drone on and point fingers. Listen to the experts.
Imperial College Report Well it looks like once the scientist with all these predictions got in front of the British Parliament, he decided maybe his predictions were way off-base. Clicky

Since viruses don't do as well in warm weather, and with summer on the way, this should cetainly help to curb the spread somewhat. I guess folks living in broiling hot areas like southern Arizona or Texas should appreciate that.

If the virus does not do well in warm weather, why has it spread so much in Iran and Italy?

I don't know the answer to that, but it's still a fact that warmer weather is not as conducive to viral multiplication. That's why when you've heard news anouncements in the past, "It's the start of flu season", it's usually during the cooler months. At least that's what I've experienced in my 75 years.

Even at 25 C, the virus can survive on surfaces for five days.

I think it's more the spread of the virus. The Weather Channel had a good demonstration on the physical properties of water droplet spread in cold, dry air vs warm moist air. The droplets remain airborne longer and spread further in the colder air.
Also, during warm weather people tend to be outdoors more and fewer people are confined together is small spaces, thus less chance of spread.
We don't know for sure how this virus will act, there has been speculation both ways. I do think is't reasonable to expect a little decrease spread during the summer, but it's not going to disappear. And most experts fear a second peak next flu season.

Another statistic to put things in perspective. More people died from COVID-19 yesterday in New York than the number of US soldiers in Afghanistan in the last 5 years.
