Well, a V3 is a 250 KW rate capable charger. But that only happens low in the charge curve. So for example, we connected to a V3 at around 20 percent and the supercharger pinned to close to 250 KW within about a minute. In a model 3 the battery fills REALLY FAST at that rate but by the time the battery was at 40 percent it was starting to drop off. I'm struggling to remember but seems to me at around 55 percent it was already below 200 KW. AT 70 percent its below or at around 100 KW. Once its over 90 percent its at or below 50 KW and its no longer worth hanging around unless you are getting lunch. This has A LOT to do with the battery size though so no idea how a battery 6 or 8 times bigger would act.
Added on edit. I didn’t time it but I’m guessing 20 ish minutes 20 to 85 percent ??? A model 3 is around 75 KW. Extrapolate a 500 - 700 kWh battery from there. No idea how big a Semi battery is.
Hope that helps.

So curious to see what the MEGACHARGERS will be. Will it be a modular battery that just charges using 2, 3 or 4 V3 Superchargers? That’s my guess. That way a fleet operator could buy and install according to their needs. No idea really.

For truckers and long distance haulers where time is of the essence, top of mind concerns for them is range and re-charge turn around -- unless, sleep/rest willl be relaxed for them in. their full autonomous/self driving mode (where they can actually be sleeping where there vehicle is running, lol). Any reason the driver cannot sleep while charging?

I still think the primary market initially will be companies like Walmart etc that can invest in charge infrastructure at their depots. 200 to 400 miles of range would be adequate for many routes for many companies.

"Tesla advertises the truck can go 500 miles on a full charge, with a full load, at highway speeds. The company is hoping to start producing the semi soon."
Okay, I don't care what you think, that is funny.

I don't expect any loss of sales for Tesla due to the new EVs coming out. The EV market is expanding faster than the production ramp of all EVs combined. The real loss of sales will be in the petrol market. Legacy automakers have a huge headwind getting dealers to actually sell the EVs produced. Tesla does not have this handicap. Initial sales of Mach-E etc. will pop at the start but the real sales will be seen after the first year is up when the dealers will be expected to actually sell.

Tesla semi in semi-home concept.
Why not for those who want to flunk the dough? It's actually perfect for the semi.
