Quote: While I wait for my Tesla Model S Plaid I had been getting a lot of incoming data from others testing their cars. In this video I compare these tests vs my own tests in the Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari SF90, McLaren 765LT, Huracan EVO and Porsche Taycan.

Quote: Elon really did it this time!! Coming from a weekend drag racer this car is beyond impressive! Stay tuned it’s going to be a wild ride!
Tesla Model S Plaid is Insane!
Quote: New model S Plaid test hit on the street. We didn’t use launch control or drag mode yet as the streets are still a bit damp. That’s right 9.3 on a damp street. These cars are no joke

Makes those old muscle cars look and perform like a Model T in comparison.
Unimaginable performance.
I expect Semi to make a similar leap from the soon to be old diesels.

Quote: The Model S Plaid zips down the quarter mile in a staggeringly quick 9.25 seconds at 152.6 mph. The run from 0 to 60 mph happens just 1.98 seconds after the brutally hard launch. The Plaid covers distance so quickly, it's difficult to even register what's happening. The yoke gets light in your hands, your neck muscles strain as your helmeted head digs into the headrest, and your surroundings blur into mere shapes and colors as a quarter mile of pavement vanishes underneath you.

I'm not sure if this is still the practice at Tesla. My son who worked for Elon said that Tesla would do a initially a manual assembly at Fremont for their cars and use it as a template for their robots.
If this is the practice, then those robotic arms are already programmed for plug and play.

free radical wrote: rjstractor wrote: ^^^ impressive video, in less than four years Tesla has gone from rolling one out on stage to driving one bobtail around a track, showing a couple of clips of one pulling a 53' van around the block, and a really cool shot of a Tesla tractor sitting on a lowboy being hauled by a diesel tractor. I'm not a marketing genius, but shouldn't it be the other way around? Maybe Tesla will be a player in the class 8 trucking world by 2030, maybe not. In other news, the Freightliner eCascadia is approaching 1,000,000 miles of real world testing.
So how much cost that Freightliner truck? Whats the range? How many did they built and sold?
If its sucesful so much the better,Tesla cant do it all alone, the gigafactories take time to build, while other companies already have many,so whats the hold up ? Start building ev trucks already !

Click on the link I provided, it answers many of your questions. I don't know what the cost is. Production to start next year.
What's the holdup? Diesel trucks are still much cheaper to operate per mile. When electric trucks become more cost effective, and with time they will, they will dominate the market. My point to this post was, while Tesla is still showing little video clips about its small handful of prototypes after almost 4 years, another manufacturer actually has electric trucks out on the road working and ready to go into production. I hope Tesla does soon.
