Why did I do this?

Because I could? - Actually, no.

I wanted to clean up some of the "stuff" that I had on the counters, but I am not ready to put permanent drawer pulls on the drawers yet.

I also wanted something that was easy to remove, and not damage the plywood, hence the removable strips.

After cleaning some of the "stuff" from the counter top, we end up looking like this.......

I have some things in the drawers, and off the counter, and it feels much more organized than it did. Wahoo!

When I get ready to finish off the drawer fronts, these blocks are easily removable, which is what I was looking for.

If you want to do something, you will find a way.

I figured that it's only a matter of time until the question comes up, "how hard is it to pull those drawers open with weight in them"?

Well, I am glad you asked.

This first picture I screwed up. I didn't realize that I had zoomed in too far to get the entire weight that I was weighing.

It is a box of Kreg screws, that is not quite full.

Amounted to 23.69 lbs.

With the screws in the drawer, towards the back of the drawer, I made sure the scale was set at zero.

Then I started pulling on the scale. The pulling weight did not change much during the length of the pull.

The drawer was about 5" from coming out, so it was "nearly" out as far as I wanted it to go.

3" is about the max that I am comfortable with, using this type of slide. There are other types of full extension wooden drawer slides, but for this design - no.

I haven't measured it yet, but our refrigerator in our house may require more effort to open than this drawer does.

On the other hand, how often do we have 25 lbs or so of weight in our drawers.

Most of the time, it will be far less, which will require less pull strength.

I'll have to check out a couple of other drawers.

How do you plan on keeping the drawers closed when traveling?

We had the pantry door open on a very tight left uphill turn and the contents go flying out, after that I installed the drywall corner L strips and drilled holes to accept bungee cords, they are on for travelling and one side off for camping, all the drawers on ower unit need to lift up to open.
