Something I wanted to post a while back, but will post now.

This pic shows the fiberglass seam, with the top a little over 4' high.

The bottom piece, starts at the end of the green arrows, and is currently detached from the top.

The white tape I bought the other week, is holding that bottom piece in place. 3 pieces - great stuff.

Here is what I really wanted to show. This is the seam, shown above.

You will notice that the top piece is over top of the bottom piece.

That is how all seams should be, which unfortunately are not.

The very bottom, which I removed earlier, and has the wheel wells in it, was held on the opposite way.

While we are on the subject of fiberglass, here's one for ya.

Picture is self explanatory.

And a second shot from a different angle.

And a final pic of bending fiberglass.

This stuff is not very thick, as you could see from a couple of pics ago. Once it gets thicker, it does indeed become less flexible, and of course much heavier.

The strength of the fiberglass here, came from being glued to plywood and insulation.

Now, back on track.

The yellow arrows in this picture point to the angle steel that Fleetwood used and fastened the sidewall to, in this area.

The red arrow points to a piece of 1.5 x 1.5" steel that is at the front of, and part of, the dash assembly.

The area inside the green rectangle, is a piece of sheet steel.

Also, the black areas, that the arrows point to, and inside the green rectangle, have been painted with a coat of Por 15. That will take care of these areas rusting.

Here is a better shot of the back side of the angle steel that was used to fix the "oops" that occurred where the front cap was attached at the passenger side.

Here is the new assembly I built, to replace the original, rusty version.

I put aluminum on the back, (or inside), of the assembly. I coated the entire side of the aluminum with Por 15, and then painted Por 15 on the back side of the steel tubing, and used the old assembly, and a few clamps, to hold it together, until the Por 15 dried.

Once both the steel and aluminum are coated, and dried, the Por 15 acts like a glue, and that won't be coming apart any time soon.

Here is a different view of the same item.

Notice on the left side, the yellow arrow. It is pointing to a piece of steel, that I used to help hold the aluminum to the steel.

The bottom piece is the old steel, that was laying on top of the aluminum, to hold it in place while it dried.

Thee are several green circles, which indicate just a little Por 15 that ran in between the aluminum and the old, rusty steel.

When I tried to pull the old steel off, it was stuck pretty tight.

Those arrows show how little Por 15 was actually stuck to the old steel. Even with what was there, I had to use a hammer to remove the old piece, because it was stuck pretty good.

Obviously, the old steel had no prep whatsoever, and the paint still stuck.

Yes, all of the aluminum and steel that has not yet been painted, will be getting a fresh coat of Por 15.

Did I mention, I like Por 15?

So, I was able to get a little more Por 15 on the front side today.

Pic is self explanatory.

Also put another coat of paint on the front framework that I built.

I ran out of black Por 15, so I switched over to some gray that I have.

Parts of this have 2 coats, other parts, have only 1. Por recommends 2 coats.
