The 30lb tanks in my 5th wheel need to be recertified or replaced. I have tried to locate a place that does recertification near me in SW PA but no luck. The propane suppliers don't offer the service and cannot recommend a place.

Does anyone have a suggestion on where to look or is it just better to buy two new tanks?

Not all places check the expiry or re-certify date(s). For the past two (2) yrs. I've taken one of my - 'pass due date' tanks to a place where the tech. does not check!! Some readers may feel it might be unsafe to do this - but I think it's just another "rip off". bb

Lowe's sells brand new ones (30 lbs) for around $60.

Having my two tanks recertified as we speak. $10 each plus fill.
New tanks are 85 dollars filled. Find a propane whosaler and ask them. Most all local dealers will not, but whosalers usually do.

I thought I read there was a new ruling that the small tanks didn't need recertified for 12 years now. But a quick search didn't come up with anything... I know I read that somewhere recently...

I tried both my local Lowea and Home Depot and Home Depot will allow me to order online and ship to store and Lowes although on website it tells you to contact store and my Lowes does not offer them.

Tractor Supply has them around $70 buck or so in stock. I found one place that will send them out for certification for $35 but the turn around time is a month and a half.

I think I might just get new ones at tractor supply as finding a certification place is not working out

I called every propane wholesaler near me and none offer it or can recommend a place. I did have some luck searching under welding gases but most send the tanks out and the turn around time is very long over a month

I have had my tanks re-certified at the LPG distribution companies. The guys who sell it to tractor supply, and others.

For peace of mind on a 13 year old tank, I would replace them. $62 at Camping World and about every other place listed. They hold about 7 gallons so add your cost per gallon LP in your area. Doug
