Overnight ratings for the 500 down 22 percent from 2017. Ouch.... Pending final numbers it could be the lowest rated since flag to flag coverage began in 1979.

Dale Jr had fun at Daytona with two of his drivers coming in 1-2 in the Xfinity race on Saturday !

Speaking of Dale.
Who will be most popular driver this year.
Will the 88 get the votes.
Or, will they go with the 3.
Or, will it be someone else.

No RV at the moment.
Looking to hit the road in a year or two.

Sure hope these last several races are not indicative of how the seasons going to go. I picked Kyle Larson as my driver for this season.
My wife picked Chase Elliot..... could be a long season for me. [emoticon]

I like the kid, he did more his first season in the #42 than Montoya did in his best season. And Wallace sure had a good day.

I watched the race, like I always do, and to tell you the truth I came away not really caring if I watched another one. I was a diehard Dale Sr.fan and would never miss a race.

I get it, I get it! The activity that's called NASCAR racing will keep trending down down down down down down down until the end. AND, there's nothing anybody can do about it. But, some of us will want to enjoy it for as long as we can. Please do not promote the demise.

I doubt that Austin or Aric will be near the front again this season at race end. Last years Coke 600 was a fuel gamble for Austin that paid off.
This race was unusual in that the big ones all happened at the front of the field eliminating most of the better drivers.

I'll bet a cold beverage that it will be Chase Elliott.

The media seems to have anointed him as the Heir Apparent of the old NASCAR driver's.

They did the same thing to Dale Jr.

Re Austin and Aric

I think they have the potential to get to the front at Talladega and Daytona. Just have to avoid the big wrecks.

While I don't think Austin consciously decided this is the time to push him out of the way, I also do understand the culture.

Be it Talladega or Martinsville - if Aric is on his rear bumper, he isn't going to hesitate.

If trailer merchandise is any indication it will be Chase... his trailer was twice as busy as any of the others... Jr typically had 2 trailers at each race and since he wasn't there, it appeared Chase was getting all the buyers... Jimmy was a (not so close) 2nd. Seems like last year there were no trailers, just shops and pay at one location.. much easier but this year, at least for Daytona and at least for a few drivers, the trailers are back... [emoticon]
