Dale Jr. leaving and looking for another Jr. like maybe Bill (E) Jr. as the next hope for Nascar?

Never really a Jr. fan, just like him because he's among the last of a dying breed of good ole' boy racers from the South, and he's a great pitchman for his sponsors. By all account he's well off and starting a family, I'm happy for him and whatever the future brings him.

I've been 'driverless' since Tony Stewart pulled the plug. No real allegiance to anyone, with the possible exception of 'Seven Time' because I'd really like to see him become 'Eight Time'. I do enjoy the 'youth movement' though......

Couple months back there was an announcement about the Monster Chevy going to Camaro bodies. Anything about Fords going to Mustangs?

I hope Ford goes with the Mustang. I really like the look of the Camaro, plus it's more relevant to the performance street car market. Unlike the 4 door taxi cab they have been running for the last several years.

Just please, please do not go with the V6 in the cup series. It's just not right. [emoticon]

Here is a story with some video/pictures of the Camaro.

Interesting note Dale Earnhardt Jr was in Australia when the first of the new series Camaros came out. He drove the prototype cars here. They were primarily engineered by Holden in Australia. Were made for RHD/ LHD

After being voted the 2007 NASCAR NMPA Chex Most Popular Driver for the fifth consecutive year and being presented with the award only a few days earlier at the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brothers Media Luncheon in New York City, Dale Earnhardt Jr. didn't waste any time heading to Australia to watch the final round of the Australian V8 Supercar Series at the Phillip Island Gran Prix circuit.

Earnhardt Jr was a special guest at the Dunlop Grand Finale where he mixed and talked to all teams along pit lane, regardless of the Ford versus Holden rivalry before holding a media conference where he praised the technology of our premier motorsport category

Well maybe there is some hope of the Mustang coming to the cup series.
Quote:

Coming on the heels of Chevrolet announcing it will field its Camaro brand in NASCAR’s top tour, race fans have been vocal about Ford’s muscle car joining the ranks as well.

The great-grandson of Ford Motor Company founder Henry Ford said that, while he’s not the decision maker for the racing arm of the manufacturer, personally he feels that having a Mustang race alongside the Camaro “would be wonderful.”

“I don’t know what we’re going to do yet, but I think it’s the right play,” Ford told motorsport.com at the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte, NC on Tuesday. “I think Mustang ought to be our race car – much like Camaro is General Motors race car. So, it seems to me that would be appropriate.”

But then while searching around I read this.
Quote:

Ford Motor will slash production at five of its North American plants before the end of the year to keep inventory levels from expanding as U.S. auto sales weaken for the first time in nearly a decade, Bloomberg reports...

Sales of the Mustang alone are down 30% this year.

The official announcement of Danica's demise hit the Raleigh paper this morning. I thought this was old news but it certainly points to sponsor control of Nascar in this era.
Aric's sponsor was bailing when he was being replaced, but now is following him to SHR. He has one win in 10 seasons with Petty, but he gets hired over Matt and Kurt because he can bring money?
I guess the owners want their bread buttered on both sides.

I thought that was interesting too....
Aric getting a ride over Matt and Kurt....wow, he must have signed a contract to work for free.

Maybe we will see Matt, Kurt and Danica on "Dancing with the Stars."

Two Cup champs and they pick a one win in 10 year driver!? [emoticon] Should of just stuck with Danica. She sold more tee shirts in a week than Aric sold in those 10 years.

Yeah but Smithfield is still sponsoring the 43 to some extent next season. Wonder what went on with the whole RPM, Smithfield, Almirola story. More behind the story than we'll ever know I'm sure.

Yeah, I’m guessing Tony is paying a WHOLE bunch less $$ for Aric than Danica received
