Did anyone understand the penalty Ryan Blaney got on the last pit stop in the XFinity race?

I didn't watch the race but the article I read of the recap said they had an uncontrolled tire on his pit stop.

Listening to the race on the radio, it was described as the tire did not leave the pit box, but apparently the rule says that after removing a tire, someone has to move the tire at least halfway back toward the pit wall before the race car leaves. Every week that I can watch the race(s) I see cars leaving the pits after a two tire stop with the tires and tire changers outside the car.

Here's another head scratcher, the penalty/fines levied against the #42 team for 'an unapproved rear brake cooling system'. Granted, the 42 did not get through tech inspection prior to qualifying and subsequently started at the back of the field. But, the car certainly went through and passed inspection at some point prior to the race. How was the brake cooling system OK then, but not OK after the race????????

I don't think the brake cooling system was ever OK. I think NASCAR allowed the car to run the race rather than forcing the #42 team to sit out the race.

The unapproved changes were likely determined to (1) not provide a performance advantage, (2) not endanger driver safety, and (3) the team was unable to provide a car without those changes.

So rather than not run the race, the team elected to run knowing that they would receive a fine and suspension.

Too many rules.....concentrate on what is needed for driver, fan, and crew safety and then let um' race.

Why do we keep on allowing them to race with "too many rules"...?

The paying customers and TV watchers aren't allowing it....look at the ratings and the stands.

OK, so it's a rhetorical question. However, I really do not agree that the number of people in the grandstands is sufficiently low to hit the panic button. In fact, I believe that NASCAR will keep operating until it's no longer profitable. At which time I'll say they sure had long run. Meanwhile;

Yes, and they are pouring 30 million into what will be known as the Richmond Raceway. Whoopi Doo!

And again, Kyle Larson has a legal/ not legal car? And what was the infraction? Reading the article I couldn't figure out if it was the spoiler or the rear deck shark fin? Do they even run shark fin at a short track???

Who knows....Nascar has gotten so ridiculous with rules, a driver could loose points for having the wrong color pillow cases in their motor home.

Keep them safe and then let them race.

IMO The above statement has no practical application. First of all, the safety rules, the racecar rules AND the racing rules are what they are,....we have no say-so. All you can wish for is that the new president will change the rules to something that you like. IMO that's not going to happen.
