Interesting & insightful

Read this last week. Now that Bob Pockrass
Is recovering from his Danica obsession, he's back to writing some worthwhile columns.

Lack of crowds will always be an issue with me! Love the way the networks get better and better at not showing the crowd. I remember a race at Rockingham they were nutting and welding seats together Sunday morning, not long before the drop of the green flag. The rental air guns again raised their ugly head just as I posted before the season even began. By now you would think it would be resolved, but FRANCECAR is in bed with somebody! And of course the spin doctors were out bright and early Monday AM. The X-Finity race Saturday was on regular Fox and Sunday's race was on FS 1 being regular Fox had girls soccer on. Brian needs to see a surgeon for a Lexarectomy before it is too late.

I don't know how many are aware, but I have read stories that Brian had sold his interest in NASCAR back to family members in 2007, it is believed. Visionary, as in he saw the end approaching? He still owns shares in International Speedway Corporation, but with no skin in the NASCAR game, is it any surprise he seems totally detached from what he's supposed to be overseeing?

I see the FS 1 overnight ratings were a 1.7 share and an estimated audience of 1.2 million. Not surprising since it wasn't on the main network, but Fox thinks that's great. Bet advertisers don't............

Monster Renews Sponsorship With NASCAR....

But only for 1 year.

Whew! Dodged that bullet. The glass is now half full. All things considered, one year at a time sounds like a plan. IMO NASCAR will go this year PLUS next year. This gives Kyle Busch 2 more chances at a championship.

More on the Monster Deal......

A lot of glad handing and feel good stuff, but the paragraph reporting NASCAR may be rethinking the title sponsorship model is curious. What might that look like? If a company isn't front and center and prominent, what would the benefit be to a company paying for the rights?

Funny, of all the things I see Monster in I can’t remember the last time I saw anyone drinking one. Well, except on TV.

I still scratch my head over how NASCAR was pilloried over its 40 year relationship with RJ Reynolds and gave it up because of image concerns, but they embrace Monster whose products 'benefits' are questionable at best. Follow the money I guess....

If it's legal, and the check doesn't bounce, and keeps the cash flowing...You know the rest.
I'm not in favor of being negative about every single thing that NASCAR does in order to survive. After all, what matters to me is that my man Kyle Busch needs a few more years in order to win more championships...[emoticon]

As long as Toyota keeps shoveling money think Kyle will be just fine.... To that end, we did our part and sent our 18 year old Camry to pasture for a new one. Don't have a Kyle crush, but no disputing Toyota builds a good car.
