ZB39 chose this color so he could add his forest ranger magnetic signs to the doors and boon dock anywhere he wants in the parks.

That first pic is at Tamarack in S WV where we spent the first night. Ran the furnace. The other 3 are at Fort Wilderness CG. Much warmer......

Great looking combo! It looks like you have that same big gap between the platform step you carry and the factory steps. I think one of our members has recently replaced their steps for the better.
Enjoy the time away!

Torklift says the Revolution will not fit the opening, but I need to work with them on some other ideas...

That would be great. In the level campsite photo you shared there is room for another step. I'm almost to the point where I need to supply the 2 steps from the ground to make the factory steps manageable.

Has anyone modified the stairs for the 5500?

Is that a unique problem for flatbed implementations or just to the 5500 in general? Would a 550 and service body have the same challenge or maybe a 550 with flatbed setup? Just curious... Thanks

I don't think it's unique to the RAM. I think any MFG flatbed 5500/550 would be tall. For my wife and I the steps are very close together from Host. So it might look like a huge gap between my ground platform and the the first factory step it's not that bad for us.

A pickup is 2.5-3’ from the bottom of bed to the ground. A flatbed is 3-3.5’ from the ground. Host uses a 4-step folding assembly and has not found a taller one (neither have I). I need to devote some time with Torklift engineering, but my full time work is getting in the way.

I just installed a set of 5 step torklifts on my 2017 mammoth this past weekend. It was a super tight fit and I can only use the top two height adjustments because of it, which, the lower would make the top step too long of a step anyway. I think at the second notch it made the top step either 12" or 14", can't remember exactly. It was so tight I had to modify the step hardware a little. If it was on a flatbed you definatly want to go with 6 steps. The seem to work good but I haven't actually made a trip with them yet.
