Yeah, I'm bombarding y'all with questions.
Looking at 2 different Bigfoots (feet)lol . A 2008 2500 9.4 long box, and a 2007 1500 9.5 longbox. The owner of the 2500 is listing the dry weight at 2780. Bigfoot lists current model 2500 at 2820.It has A/C, porcelain toilet, thermal windows, and skylight. With freshwater tank of 38gal and 6gal in the water heater. So, about 300# water, 100# A/C, microwave and toilet maybe 50? Total wet = about 3250#. Add 500# for stuff and 350 for folks. Minus the tailgate 50#? I'm right at my 4018# payload, I think. Your thoughts?
The 2007 1500 is claimed to be 2280#. Much smaller tank, 32 gal., assuming it hasn't changed. Has A/C. Add about 230 of water and 100# A/C and it's a little over 2600#. Plus 500# stuff and 350 folks = 3460#.
So the issue is, be right against my payload, or 500# breathing room?
My math and assumptions anywhere close?
Yes, it's very hot outside. The wife is watching cooking shows on TV, and I'm waiting on NASCAR to start!

Get the bigger one. You will carry it fine. If you check through this forum and see the weights people carry with their truck campers you will be one of the few within your payload, or near it.
Having had a heavily loaded 9'6 Snowbird slide, and now currently with a fifth wheel, the camper worked just fine on my 2000 F350. Overweight, yes, but with 19.5 wheels and tires on it, no problem.

^^^Yeah I'm doing all kinds of mental gymnastics to justify the bigger one. Occupant weight will be closer to front axle, rarely run down the road with the water tanks full, etc.
I towed our 5th wheel over payload with my F350, payload was 3260#. Traded that on the Ram just to get the peace of mind that I wasn't over weight.
If I can get the price down.......

My first thought is you do not have to travel W/ water @ (full), and this (by your calculations will drop travel weight by almost 300#. You will be happier W/ larger on in my thoughts.
My feet are fine as long as they are traveling.

Where are you getting those weights from? They may already have the factory options added them. Reason I ask is the 2007 brochure I have list the 15C9.5FS or FR as 1,970# and the 25C9.4LB as 2,435#.
The weight of the tailgate is eaten up by the tiedowns so that is a wash there.
If you plan on camping in below freezing temps, the 1/2 thicker walls and thermal windows will be greatly appreciated.

Buy the big one. The majority or TC haulers are well over their GVWR. Right or wrong that's just how it works out. I've been anywhere from 900 pounds to 1,600 pounds over on my various TC and truck combinations over the years.

The weights came from the seller and the current BF website.
The 1500 weight of 2280 came off the tag. The 2500 weight the seller provided I assume is off the tag.
Is the tag weight the "as built" weight including any factory options, or the base weight with no options?
I plan to call BF this week to discuss.

I vouch for the larger as well. Larger tanks and better insulation.
I don't have exactly the same camper but its pretty close (I have the shortbox version). I seem to kick around 3800-3900lbs when loaded up. I don't pack a ton but it all adds up.
being a long box, it will probably ride a bit better than mine, but I find mine rides better with a full tank of water. With the tank at the very front, it balances out the weight a bit better.
Make sure you get a rubber mat or horse stall mat.
