I have dragged and dropped, I have hit select and I have copied and pasted to the link and I never get a url. I save the link form this post, do I need to delete it and resave or not save it to my computer?

You open the link that I gave to the website. When the website opens, you then drag a picture from your computers "my pictures" folder or wherever you keep your pictures onto the opened picture posting page. After a few seconds your pictures will appear in miniture with a box under it containing the URL. Copy/paste that URL into a post on this forum.

Instead of draging and dropping, the website also gives you the option of opening a "tree" window where you can then select which photo you want just like you do when you attach anything to an e-mail.

I'm having trouble as well.
When I open the link and try to right click where you say to, I'm not given an option to paste. I can right click all over that window and cannot paste.
I have Windows 8.
Thanks for any help.

If you are talking about pasting a link into the app then you must select one from your computer first. Easiest to just open "Windows Explorer" and drag the picture from your "my pictures" folder onto the app page.
Have you copied a picture from your computer? You must select which picture before you can paste it into the app. That is most likely the reason you are not given anything to paste (upload) into the app.

If you are talking about the URL that appears under your picture in the app, then just copy it and paste into a post.

Take a look at the third post from the top by 1492 in this thread which will show what you are supposed to see after you upload your picture and what you are supposed to copy from the app in order to paste into your post.

I open this window, Link
When I copy an image, I cannot not get the right click to display paste where it should work.
If I left click on the select image below, it does nothing. It is not a clickable button. I think this area is my problem. Just do not know what to do about it...

Pat,
There seems to be some problems with Internet Explorer if that is what you are using. Hopefully 1492 will see your post and comment on the probable cause and how to fix it. You are beyond my expertise at this point. Sorry. I am going to PM him and see if he will take a look.

The app requires Javascript to drag-n-drop and to "Select" your photo? If neither is working, than Javascript is not enabled or being blocked in your browser?

If the app gets stuck on "Preview" message graphic, just note that it can depend on your net connection upload speed. The slower your connection, the longer it will stay on Preview until finished.

The other issue is that IMGUR servers could be unusually busy or doing maintenance, which will either slow uploads or even cause it to get stuck. In which case, close your browser and restart the app. You may want to wait a few minutes for any issues with IMGUR to clear.

Drag-n-drop has only been supported in IE since v10. It apparently doesn't even work on IMGUR's website if using IE. Firefox is the most compatible browser with least issues in this regard.

Tell us more about Imgur as it relates to rv.net posts. Imgur appears to be a image popularity site for images and if so how does that relate to rv.net image posting? Will the image remain for years and can I find and get the url later? Apparently it can be voted off and I would expect that a lot of rv.net images would not have many votes.

From the website:
Quote:

If the image does not appear in your Submitted Images, it has been downvoted into oblivion, removed from the gallery, or detected as spam. All largely downvoted images are automatically removed from the public gallery, but will remain in your private uploads. You will no longer be able to access the comments for removed gallery images.

If your submitted image uploads correctly, but does not have any votes or views or appear in the gallery, it's possible you have been marked as a spammer. Please submit a request for support.
I like to know more before using this method of posting pictures.

Today, I checked again.
I did post an image in the testing post.
I used the select an image button and it worked!
I used Internet Explorer.
I did download Chrome. Maybe this added something that made IE work. I don't know.
Hope it continues to work!
Pat

Edit: I went back to the app page and tried to cut & paste and it did not work. The select button does work and I guess that's what I'll use.
Again, I'm using Windows 8.
