I should check this more often. I'm really sorry to hear about Hobo's passing. He was a nice person to know. Tom and I are on the road again. His job went the way of COVID, which we saw coming awhile ago actually, so we have packed up and have gone in search of America. It's taken two weeks but we've made it to South Dakota so far. I have literally no idea where we're going once we're finished with staying and fishing in Pierre, SD. We've kind of been flipping a coin (do we stay, do we go) and going from there. He said something about the Great Lakes a couple of days ago and maybe Niagara but I don't really know. We might be home by Thanksgiving, we might not. No clue. I hope you all are well. I miss our rallies. They were much fun for me. 2019 Coachmen Mirada 32ss RVing since 2007 Previous rig: 2004 Skyline Nomad trailer 2005 Suburban |

Oh, I forgot, we're out of the sheep business this year. It was getting too much for my failing health to keep up with the animals (which sucks, let me tell you) so we sold all but two of the herd. It's weird to only have two ewes left. Just...weird. Tom's out of work and so am I until musical theaters reopen (I am a theatrical costumer in my spare time). It's just a weird time of life, I suppose.

Tom and Laura, good to hear from you two and know that you are still up and going. This site is pretty dead anymore but I still do check it out. Sorry to hear you have had to give up your sheep but sounds like you are still busy. We are waiting to leave for our home in Arizona until the Covid 19 is a little better under control down there. It is slowly getting better. I still do the tree's at Christmas time here and stay busy in the summer with cars. We should be back on the road in two weeks if all goes as planned. We take our time going South and coming back. Weeks not days...Sounds like you and Tom are having a great time just traveling, that is what we did for years and hope to again next year if we have solved the health issues. Stop and smell the roses, we never hurried on our travels.... Bob and Sue |

Good to hear from several of the "old gang". Carolyn and I are still here in Federal Way suffering through the smoke and smog. Trying to cram last minute stuff to get done this coming week before we head south. I think I have Carolyn talked into leaving the week of 21st. since we are homebound here anyway. Maricopa County's positivity rates are getting close to 10%, but trying to see if there's a bounce from Labor Day. The RCSC has opened up the rec centers, swimming pools and exercise rooms with some of the arts and crafts clubs open under strict guidelines and protocols. At least we would have sunshine and warmth as well! Tradewinds, still waiting for you guys to come by and spend several days with us! Have a 2nd. bedroom and we can park your rig for 72 hours with no problem at the house. Open invitation to anyone else, especially when you get tired of the grey wet weather up here! Everyone stay safe!

Good to hear at least a few of us are still alive and kicking. we are still in Sublimity, Oregon outside of Salem with a 30K acre fire at our backdoor. Living in a stage 2 evacuation notice area and air pollution index at 500 this morning. The spot fires that were about 6 miles from us have apparently gone out according to the NASA infrared map. For thosethat are familiar with the highway 22 area out of Salem toward Bend, Detroit is virtually gone along the highway. Some of the residential/vaction homes didn't burn but probably more than 50% did. The small town (600 or so) of Gates was nearly leveled and Lyons has had major damage. It is about 12 mile east of us. Think we are out of danger now and cooler weather and rain coming. Tuesday we awoke to dark outside--darker than the eclipse in 2017 that was directly over us--no light until about noon. We have the old trailer hooked to the truck in the street in front of the house but it looks like we are going to be OK. Hadn't been out in the trailer all season due to covid and think we will sell it-someone up the canyon might need it to live in, altho it is small, at a burned out homesite. Between us Dave and I have gained 3 new knees and I had a back fusion in 2018. Problems from that surgery still plague me and make using the trailer difficult. Hard to quit traveling--our first trailer vacation was 55 years ago and we've owned them for 53 years. At 80 and 79 we are slowing down! Has anyone heard from Jon (Big Dog)? Stay safe everyone! P.S. How do you edit your signature? We have new truck--can't find my profile. 2017 Ram 2500 CTD, Crew Cab, sure out-tows the 2003! AND: our evacuation level just dropped back to a 1--no danger currently! * This post was last edited 09/12/20 04:57pm by rvlady * Linda and husband Dave (retired US Army) W7DDW Magic, Yellow Lab Female, born 18 July 2010. Hi All, Good to hear from everyone and that you are staying safe, whether it be from the virus or the fires. Laura has been following Tom & Laura's travels on Facebook. Sounds like quite the adventure...not sure when or where you're going next. Laura and I are living our dream...in a brand new Montana 3813MS fifth wheel in a nice park in Hemet CA since Memorial Day. If I had to commute to work from here, it would not be bad, but definitely longer than the 3 miles I had to go from Riverside. I have been working from home since early March (another dream of mine), just as the virus was getting started around here. We had to wait an extra 6 weeks for our rig to be delivered. It was supposedly 20 feet from the factory door when they had to shut down the factory due to the virus. We must have seemed like little kids at Christmas...is it here yet, is it here yet...is it here yet!!! We had a transport company pick up our old trailer from Richland and haul it down here for the trade-in, then moved all the stuff over from one rig to the other. We are several miles from the nearest fire, but we can sure see the smoke in the aire (not smelling it though). We watch the news and see all of the fires everywhere in the west, destroying trees, homes and communities. Pretty sad. We drove north earlier this month to see family and go through what we had left in storage up there. My parents were thinning out things in their house, so we added to their garage sale supply, but we both stillhave things we just can't seem to get rid of. My eyesight has gone downhill the past 5 years, to the point where I am no longer driving. Doctors say I have Retina Degeneration disease...where the optical sensors in the eye get dirty or stop working correctly. Even if we had the right truck to pull our new rig, Laura says she would not be comfortable towing it, so we'll have to have someone else move it for us. But that's okay, cheaper than buying a new huge truck that would not get much use for what it is intended for. Everyone stay safe and health. |

Good to hear from you David. My folks lived in Fallbrook for quite a few years after retiring and leaving Oregon. The mobile home park they lived in was burned in a fire after they left--I was glad mom wasn't alive to get that news.

Wow, really good to see so many pop up here, thanks Laura for that first post...I talk to Jon every so often and he is doing well, I imagine he will pop up on here tomorrow. I got bored and went to work for Nissan when I am home for the summer, driving cars all over. Tom I am constantly going past your place, taking cars to Auburn and Kent or to a dealer. We will try to get over this year. We have been so busy at our place down there rebuilding and adding. I think you know I rolled the jeep you rode in. Destroyed it but have another now and it is really built big. Do not roll thru Oregon much anymore as we go out of our way to avoid California so we do not go past Dave and Linda. Roger is still up and running, I follow him on FB...Just glad everyone is doing well. Sue is learning to walk on her new knee and I have mastered my rebuilt shoulder....Old age and all.....Bob and Sue

Good to see some of the old group are still around. We sold our MH and toad last year, it was getting too hard for me to take care of it. Wish I still had it so we could go somewhere to get out of the smoke. David, have you seen a Retinologist yet? Pat has had retina problems for several years, last year her opthamologist had her go see a retinologist in Salem. After his examination he started giving her injections in her worst eye,had to get a shot in her eye every two weeks for a year, then one every month. Last week at her visit he stopped the injections, she still has to see him again next week to see if her vision is staying the same. Anyway, the injections brought her vision down from 20/400 to 20/60. If you have any questions about the procedure she went through PM me or give me a call. My cell # is 503-997-2310 Linda, if you have to evacuate I have water, 30amp electric and a sewer hookup available at my drive. You are welcome to stay here if you need to.
