I can't believe it is that time of year when the snowbirds are flying south again! It is still 90 degrees in the Salem area! Our trailer hasn't moved since the first weekend in May--that was a short trip near Detroit Lake (50 miles) for an Oregon Hunters habitat work party. I tore my right rotator cuff cleaning up the trailer and had surgery on 8 June--exactly 6 months from the left shoulder surgery in December. I was still going to PT for the first one. A new right knee was scheduled for January 2015--postponed until early 2016 now because of the shoulders. I got back in the truck for the first time last week--two restricted-use shoulders and a gimpy knee have really grounded me! Lost my drivers license because I fell asleep and got in a wreck in April. Just got the sleep studies done and wore my new CPAP for the first time last night--it will take several more months to get my license back. This has been a terrible year! I am thankful, however, that most of what is wrong can be fixed, and that so many are worse off than I am--my prayer list just keeps getting longer adding friends going through medical problems. We did enjoy the gatherings and miss seeing you all but I do like hearing from folks through this forum from time to time. Have a great rest of 2015 and here's to better times in 2016! Hey, Jon, where are you?

Last time I saw Jon, we were in passing at the truck stop in Aurora, OR, both of us getting a fill-up. We happened to be at the pumps at the same time, which was hilarious because Tom looked over at the rig next to us and said "hmm, that guy looks really familiar...hey, it's BigDog!!!".

I have no idea where he was headed. We were on our way to Burning Man. Yes, we're unwashed hippies who spend two weeks in a harsh, dusty desert. [emoticon] Tom works the event providing traffic and traveler information and I get to go to the event. We've just spent four days cleaning the dust out of the trailer. We discovered during a 10 hour white-out dust storm that the seals on our slide are failing. That said, dirty clothes make excellent slide seals. [emoticon]

For all of you that may still check the old site once in awhile, the good news is that we have broken the custom of one of us getting sick or hurt each year prior to a big trip...

SO INSTEAD this year just north of Tremonton Utah we lost the turbo on the Tradewinds. Two weeks later it was fixed and we headed for Yuma, 400 miles down the road just outside of St. George Utah we lost the oil pump and bypass and off the road again. We were towed to a garage by Good Sam that did not want us there so the next day we were towed to another shop. They said two weeks so we hopped in the Honda and headed for Yuma. It was 100 plus and of course the AC went out in the Honda, 700 dollars later that was fixed. Twenty seven days in Utah, 9K in money and we had our motorhome back in Yuma...

SO SEE, we can get to Yuma without getting sick or hurt....Bob

yeah - this time just broke!! [emoticon] Good to hear from you Bob. You guys should have called and stopped by for several days. Have missed not having the RV to travel in, but after that account, glad we don't have the expense of it!! Good luck selling lots of trees and hope your trip back south isn't as expensive.

Hey Bob,

A guy goes to the doctor and says, "Doc, it hurts when I do this.'
Doc says, "Then don't do that."

Maybe you need to stop going to Yuma. [emoticon] But I know you won't.

I have a new job lined up in Washington DC, but I have to get an interim clearance from the government before I can start. We're staying put here in Richland until we get the word (2-8 weekw), then we'll fly out to DC to find a place to live before driving out there. Our trailer is going into storage here in Richland. We've made some friends here that will keep an eye on it for us while we're gone, possibly up to 5 years or longer.

Bob, you didn't have to try and outdo our stay in Utah from last year. [emoticon] Glad too hear you made it down okay. David, glad to hear you've got another job lined up. Washington D.C. isn't a place I'd care for, though. Especially if it meant leaving the motorhome at home.

My contract with Expedia has been extended through June. The original was through mid-January.

John,
Congrats on the extension. Hopefully, that's what you wanted. [emoticon] My last contract in Omaha, I couldn't wait for it to be over! ;B
Yeah, leaving our trailer behind isn't our first choice, but the closest RV park is 30 miles away and $895 a month plus electric, plus a lot of propane in the winter. [emoticon] [emoticon] Our trailer isn't made for winter weather and full-timing. We've gone through about 55 gallons of propane in the last 3 weeks, and it's been cold here. We have already scoped out a few apartments within 1 or 2 train stops from where I'd be working, and plenty of places where Laura could get a job too, if she wants to.
