Glad you enjoyed the clam chowder at Florence. We had several excellent chowders in Westport on our way down, but the Firehouse is still the top one on our list.

WAY off topic(s) - just saw tonight's 60 Minutes and they did a segment on Lamborghini's 50th. anniversary. Just last week we stopped at a RC hobby shop south of here in Avondale. There was a brand new Lamborghini parked out in front (still with the temporary paper license) and a young dude inside the hobby shop buying a nitro powered RC truck. He was some new young baseball phenom and he said he would be back for spring training!! Must have been a nice signing bonus to run out and buy a $400k Italian car. Said he had already gotten a warning ticket!!

Still back in the low to mid 80's here! Hope you all survived the wind storm yesterday up there.

Honeyman is a big park, and although not right on the ocean, it's close enough to get the brunt of any winter storm that hits the coast. It's a little protected, but not much. Cape Lookout is even worse, sticking out from the coast like it does. Let's hope for a calm winter along the coast. [emoticon]

The Seattle area did get hammered--just saw it on the national news. Big Dog must now have power or we should have heard from him.

No problem around here with our power and the winds did get up to over 50...

OMG !!!! Road X-Y-Z,I love all those parks, but never get a chance to stay in any of them for long enuff. I'd love to be able to do some volunteering, but Jeanne just can't see what the attraction is of going somewhere and staying for a couple of weeks to a month with hook-ups and free, except for a bit of work. She did say once, when we did the boat trip up the Snake River, that she wouldn't mind spending a month upriver at the permit station. That'll never happened tho and I think the folks there will be there till they die.

It should be an interesting winter! Aren't you fulltimers supposed to go south, not west, in the winter?!

From Walla Walla WA area we are South ! Oh, you mean where the temps are in the 80s ? That may be for some people, but we like to volunteer for the Oregon State Parks.

We have experienced Fall storms with lost power in Bandon's Bullard Beach last year, and hoping this Nov/Dec are milder than some.

We are snugged into the single volunteer site in F Loop next to the Discovery Center .. this Fall will definitely tell us where we would like to spend time again when we only spend a month at each places.

From Oregon wishing y'all safe travels ...

We moved to Newport the day after Thanksgiving 1981, just after they had one of the worst November storms to date. When we drove into town, many of the business signs near the streets were blown out and debris was all over the place. You never know when a good storm will hit the coast, but fall and winter are probably the best time of year for a bad storm to hit.

That is why nearing Nov 30th exit date for next stop at Tillamook will have to monitor the weather .. we do have the option of staying for free 1 night at a state park between volunteer commitments .. looked at 101 along the coast and looks like we will be looking out over a cliff into the ocean on parts of the highway.

BTW David - how is Florida this time of year ? .. we were in Starke Florida over Thanksgiving in 2009 and had a wonderful Potluck Thanksgiving there at the Snowbirding rv park .. had to move on after that due to a reservation coming in .. the other snowbirds were most welcoming to us though while we were there ..

Well, I opened the trailer door yesterday morning and thought I was back in Seattle, except for the temperature (about 65 instead of 45 [emoticon]). It was cloudy and in and out of drizzle on the way to work. Driving around here is interesting. Freeway speed limit is 65, so you think people would be cruising around 70, like they to south of Olympia. Nope. They're doing 75-80. I've been passed by 2 cops at different times doing about 75 while I'm around 70. Heck, if they're speeding, no wonder everyone else does. [emoticon]
