Hey gang,

Well, I have some good news and some bad news.

The good news is, after a weird 7 months on my last job and 2 months of unemployment, I have a new job.

The bad news (sort of) is that it's in Jacksonville Florida.

Yep, we're moving to Florida!!! [emoticon] [emoticon] [emoticon] And real soon. [emoticon] Like next week! [emoticon]

So that means we will not be able to be your wagonmasters for this rally and we need someone to step up and take over for us. We will arrange to get you the supplies we have accumulated (not much really) and the $505 in the rally fund so you won't have to spend your own money to buy things for the rally.

Laura and I have had a really great time at all of the rallies and being wagonmasters for the past 4 or 5 (they have been so much fun, we have lost count). We have had a great time meeting everyone over the years.

So please let me know if you're willing to step up to be the next great wagonmaster of the NW Spring Rally!

A few details about the new job...
I'll be working as a contractor for Winn Dixie, the grocery store chain of the southeast. It will be a little different than what I'm used to to start with because I will be in a "contract to hire" position. What that means is that I will go in as a contractor (like a consultant). After 3-6 months, if the company likes me and my performance, they might offer me a full time employee position. At that point, I will have the option to say yes or no. If I say yes, we will be living in Jacksonville indefinitely. If I say no, or if they don't offer me a full time spot, I go back to looking for a new job. During the contract phase, I'll be making good money (really good money). It won't be that good as an employee, but it will be enough to live comfortably. Well, as comfortable as we can get in our trailer anyway. [emoticon] Well, not sure how long we would be doing that though. Laura has already found some really nice apartments down there, and pretty cheap compare to around here. We'll see.

Okay, so who is going to be the new wagonmasters?

Wow David, congratulations and good luck on the new venture and job. I'm assuming your towing the trailer down with you. We will all miss the work and effort that you and Laura have put in on the rallies the past number of years, even though we were only able to get to 1 or 2 of them!!

Please keep in touch with all of us through the thread and drive safe on your way there.

Thanks Ron. Yes, we will be towing our trailer down there and live in it for at least the near future...at least until I know whether or not I will get a full time job offer. I will try to post on our journey to Florida when I can get connected. Looks like most of the CG's we'll be staying at along the way are KOA's. I don't want to go too far out of the way (from the freeway) to get to a CG.

Anyone have suggestions on a site to set up a blog?

This is an example of a great blog by members of our Northwood RV Owners Assn forum. They are full timers. I don't know if you can pick up the name of the contact for this type of blog from info at the bottom or not. Just sent them an email asking for information.

After seeing the URL, it is probably blogspot.

We used the Good Sam My Travel Journal site for our travel blog when we were traveling fulltime. Was easy to use.

Google also has a blog program that you can use as well.

Yeah Bigdog, I'll still hang around the forum. And if someone clues me to the next rally thread, I might even join the conversation. [emoticon]

DavidG, here is the info sent to me by the fellow I mentioned:

I use two things to produce and publish our blog:

1. A Blogspot account which hosts our blog
2. Microsoft Windows Live Writer which allows me to produce the blog and then send it when we have a good internet connection

I chose this method because I don't need an internet connection to work on the blog. We rarely have a good, stable, fast internet connection, so being able to work on the blog while NOT on the internet was important. The program that allows that is "Windows Live Writer" which is free and easy to download through the Microsoft Windows web page. I produce the blog using "Windows Live Writer" and publish it with an internet connection on our Blogspot account. I promise that it is nowhere near as complicated as I made it sound.

There are other very good travel blog sites, but I don't remember them now. The travel blog sites have outstanding mapping abilities, but are otherwise fairly similar to Blogspot. Additionally, when I researched this stuff three years ago, I did not see a way to produce the blog while off-line and then post to the travel blog sites.
