I was going to suggest that you do that.

I have noticed that there has been a lot of discussion on maintenance records from different companies. Some give it out and others don't,some think it is important and others don't.
As Mocoondo has said CA keeps to the Standard Fleet maintenance program from the MFG. As I am sure other companies do.
Beyond the standard maintenance it is very helpful to know certain things. Here is an example of just one page on my El Monte RV maintenance record. On it,it shows the tires were measured for wear, pressure, and torque on lug nuts.Perform LP Gas leak test.Check and service on all batteries. Check oil in generator. Other pages show when the trans was serviced, the fuel filters were changed, air filter was replaced also when the on demand water pump was replaced, twice.
More importantly, Oil and filter change, checking front rotors for cracks.Replacing front and rear brakes and turning rotors.
All of these things with the mileage and date and generator hours that these services were done. This is very important to know and helps me in maintaining this rig. Especially knowing when the brakes were replaced and rotors were turned and when fuel and air filters were replaced and the Trans was serviced.

That's what I think all of them should supply. But, like you said, I guess others don't think this info is important. If someone (like me) thinks this is important/useful, and want this info, it appear the only place to go is El Monte.

That's what it says, but do you know that it was done?

I doubt that El Monte or any other rental company would falsify records, the liability would be too high if caught.Looking at the list that was provided, that was pretty much just regular maintenance that you would need to do to send a unit back on the road. I did a basic 2 day check as I reported before, on as many things as I could before I signed on the dotted line so I was fairly sure the unit was in pretty good shape.
I have a Ford based unit and went over the Ford Motor company maintenance requirements and there is not much that is needed other than routine stuff up to the mileage of my unit. I made the assumption that everything had to be started over. I changed the oil, flushed the cooling system, greased and lubed everything that was needed, checked the rotors, calipers, and pads for spec. I spent more time under the unit checking the drive shaft and rear end. All is now up to what any lot boy would do to a unit. I am just starting to check out other coach systems like LP and electrical for leaks and shorts.
If anyone is not comfortable doing this kind of work I suggest you get a qualified mechanic and a RV technician to do it for you and certify that everything is as it should be. But what are you going to do going forward? Are you going to keep detailed records for the next owner and pay big bucks to have this work done? I would never ever pay anyone to do these simple tasks. If I couldn't replace breaks, put in oil and a filter, flush the radiator and top off the power steering and master cylinder myself, I would NEVER buy a motorhome. That is just me and I like doing it. That guy you see along the highway, under the rig changing the universal joint will probably be me.
The lack of maintenance records is a non issue to me and I really don't think it should matter to you either. Just my opinion. Happy Trails.

Things I would like to know which might increase the perceived value of a high mileage used coach;
1). has the engine, transmission, radiator, or generator has been replaced?
2). what is the service schedule for the transmission, generator and cooling system?
I could care less about the minutia because I would look it over anyway.
Rental companies do not want their customers to have problems and they don't want the lost revenue associated with tow bills and down time, they want to grow their business. The way to do that is to provide a reliable product and the foundation to that is routine qualified service.
I know I would prefer a 5 year unit with 100k miles to a 10 year old unit with 50k miles if just to gain the 5 speed automatic, vastly improved new front end design and 50% less UV damage.
Remember, the month before you bought it was good enough to rent to someone else. Plus everyone so far that I have seen post here that ACTUALLY bought a rental has been pleased their decision.
IMHO of course

As an engineer and also a machinery surveyor in the past, I have been used to people/companies having to show records. What is accepted, is proof of receipts for parts and digital photos as proof of work done. So for those like me that do their own maintenance i suggest that it is easy to keep a record of maintenance for a future sale. Keep receipts of parts purchased and take a photo with the digital camera we all have these days. Anyone can tick a form to say work is done! My job in the past has been to prove it has been done.

cencerrita ----- ME TOO. To many folks are in a hurry and pride of work, done well, is getting hard to find. Tic marks on a sheet don't mean a damn thing. I agree. Happy Trails.
