donrebyct I did not develop the list, I found it somewhere on one of the forums I belong to. I modified it as some of the stuff did not pertain to the MH I was looking for. I will see if I can find it.

While wizard is looking for that list (I too am interested in it) one question came to mind...
How long do you folks stay out on the road with lets say your 28A?
I think Gotsmart lives in his fulltime while Kristin in Connecticut goes out for a week or so in winnie with her family to go to run marathons...
But was thinking my wife may stand a couple of weeks and then want the comforts of home. So out for 2-3 weeks then back home for a couple and then backout...
What do you owners of these former rental units do?
I guess as long as you can dump tanks and replenish water and food its indefinite, but was curious as there is not a lot of storage for clothes and you would have to find laundromats... so am curious what the real owners of these used rental class Cs do?

Here is the basis for the check list I used. I modified it for my own use but basically this is what I used.
http://changingears.com/rv-checklist-inspection.shtml
As far as use of my 28A I will probably take it out 6 to 8 times a year. Mostly around my area. One big trip planned to Arizona and California this year. Then next year we are going East as far as Ohio and looping back to Arizona again and then home.
Just the two of us and there is plenty of room for all we want to take. We plan on buying a lot of usable stuff on the way so no big packing. I would never consider living for a long time in a class C. But for going places and being able to park it just about anywhere it is the ticket for us. Traveled across the country 5 times form West coast to East. Twice in a class C with 3 daughter and never had a problem. But that was in the 80s in a 23 footer.

Well, for the next month or more my parents will be using ours full time. They're campground hosts up here in CT for the summer and got into an accident on the way up from Florida (they were soooo close!) Anyway, they are fine but their rig is smacked up and is in the shop, and will be for probably a while so they're using ours for the time being. My dad is a certified RV tech (his post-corporate pre-retirement career) and so far really likes our rig. They've been in it a week now. While we have less storage than their class A, they have been surprised at how much storage we have.
They don't have washer and dryer in their A, and they don't mind using laundromats, so they don't miss anything landry-wise in ours. If we were to full time, however, I'd want washer and dryer. But I think a lot of that comes from our running...we do a lot of hand washing of our gear because nobody wants that funky stuff sitting around for days! Yuck-o!
I will add that the most we've done is a two-weeker in ours. We did two weeks in our TT and spent a night mid-trip in a hotel and were glad for it. But after 2 weeks in the C both DH and I were ready to stay out longer. Our TT was a 23 footer and our C is a 31 footer with a slide. I think the extra space really helps!
Cheers!

Thanks Kristin for the info. Glad your folks made the comparison between the two classes (glad they are safe too). One thing which will be deciding factor is the no slideout on the Majestic 28A... will have to see if my slightly claustrophobic wife can handle that
I am thinking 2-3 weeks out and back, I think I could do longer but not sure my wife can
Thanks again!

I know two people that purchased from Cruise America. One was really happy and the other was not as a lot of problems. Do your examination and go from there. I would be patient and find a private owned, but that is just my opinion.

robertbenita,
See if you can get both of them to post their experiences here... the one having bad experience is the first report of someone having any problems from actual owners that I am aware of.... Lot of speculation from people who have not bought but most of the actual owners have reported good results
Thanks!

Let me start with the first word that comes to mind >> HELP !!
My wife and I are about to start our first venture into the RV world and calling me a novice would be a compliment. Calling my wife is not recommended.
I have been looking for feedback on buying from a rental company as it was one of my considerations so this forum and these posts are excellent.
Question: From the people that have purchased RV's what's the reduction you may expect from the price they quote? Any feedback would be helpful.
We are looking for a 24' Class C with a rear/corner bed and have seen one at El-Monte in Orlando which looks pretty good. It's a 2008 Fleetwood JAMBOREE 25G
I do not know if that's a good setup or one I should run away from.
Any help will be much appreciated. Or any suggestions on other types of vehicle I should consider would be very helpful. Thanking you in anticipation.
We can'y wait to get on the road and visit the many national parks.

Disclaimer: I didn't buy an ex-rental nor do I have a corner bed model but I'll toss my 2 cents in regardless.
I would suggest that you rent the specific model that you're interested in purchasing to test it (& the RV'ing lifestyle for that matter) out. I say that because it's not totally unusual to hear gripes about corner bed models from people who previously had them. There are 3 main issues that I recall seeing: difficult to make bed, feeling cramped while sleeping, & one person has to climb out over the other person. I'm sure somebody with a corner bed model will reply to my post that it's the best thing since sliced bread. But renting first will ensure it's OK (or not) for you too prior to spending $$$.
Good luck in your search! Keep us posted.
