Topic: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Posted By: RockyRoadCamper on 09/24/12 06:45pm

Checked water to both batteries of our truck camper. Inspected roof to see if I need to do any chalking, and may do a little tomorrow. Greased the front end of the F-450, eight jerk fittings, including the steering u-joints. None of the drive shafts or the carrier bearing have grease fittings? I don't know why. Bet it will cost $800 when it comes time to replace those u-joints. Double checked maintenance truck log for all filter changes, none due. Rear diff oil change and all filters except tranny, will be due soon after we return. Added Nature Conservancy and Greenpeace decals to the back of the t/c. Did a few other odds and ends. Have a good one.

Sanitized the fresh water tank and flushed out the holding tanks, after sitting for so many years! Deer season is fast approaching.

Drove her from Oregon to Keystone, SD, so far [emoticon]. Been through Idaho, found the most Redneck built RV Park ever north of Ennaville after eating Rocky Mountain Oysters and Buffalo Burgers at the Snakepit, rode the Hiawatha Trail, had my headlight switch go out and lost my running lights, visited Glacier, drove the camper up to the top Logan Pass from the Lake St. Marie side, then drove on to Helena, MT, visited friends for a few days, then drove from there to Yellowstone, drove the grand loop and hit just about everything on it, then drove to Cody, stayed the night at the Cody Walmart, spent a bit of time visiting Cody, drove to Gillette, WY to sleep at their walmart before visiting Devil's Tower and The night lighting of Rushmore.

Now, I'm camped at the Travelodge Motel/Campground in Keystone, SD, cooking supper and getting ready for bed.

first time cleaning the roof,i dont like heights, eesh, hoisted a bucket of murphys soap topside, plus the hose with a nozzle.Long story short,2 hours later I was done. The only problem was the openings on the lance ladder seem so narrow, lol.I hate heights, finally got down that ladder, that was the worst part of the whole day.Tomorrow its back up for some caulking touch up,getting the rolling rock ready for our monsoon season, eeks, and my 79 year old dad washes his roof on his 30 ft montana 5th wheel[emoticon]and a few kokanee,s to wind down...

Added a 3/4" sheet of plywood to the bottom of the camper to aide in height / clearing cab of my truck.

Fixed the medicine cabinet. The latch broke. Added a magnet clasp.

Added a "stick on" push button LED light inside the interior closet for the Missus.

Caulked a few joints that looked to have cracked.

Added the skylight insulation to combat cold weather.

About to get the propane tanks filled, give it a bath--we will be ready for the start of hunting season!

Thought about all the things i need to do with Her -(the new to me 1990 SunLine 1150) then thought about all i needed to do to/with, and move over from the old one -(80's? coachman) I'm still not sure what all is worth saving from the old one. I really need to go through both and figure out the best of both, then figure out if the old is really worth the trouble of moving to the new, or just buy new.
Lots of thinking, No working
