Topic: So what did you do to your Truck Camper today?

Posted By: Deb and Ed M on 08/14/15 01:00pm

Finished installing additional taillights (at an angle, you could only see one taillight before) - everything is wired through the 7-way plug, although the taillight connection branches off with a 4-prong flat plug on the lower left side. I routed the right side wiring through the metal crossbars under my camper.

Left turn, anyone? ;-)

In case anyone notices that the truck's lights aren't on - the umbilical is actually plugged into my Ram 1500. The maroon truck is "Trusty Rusty", my motorized camper cart....LOL! (It was cheaper than a trailer or dolly)

I have also noticed not much has been going on in the forum, but I'm still here

slightly different hood to TC nose geometry on the 2011 F350 compared to my 2003 made me have to move the Lance strut mounts back 2" on the TC nose to reacquire the 4" of exposed shaft ( per intructions from the local lance dealer). took all of 10 minutes

Maybe you did not post on the correct forum?

Pulled out the excide group 24 battery and replaced it with a Duracell group 31 AGM. I was a little worried about the size but it fit.

Got the new converter installed and all connected to battery. Nothing blew up or melted, no blown fuses. Got backup camera transmitter rerouted and moved forward ready to connect ends for direct battery connection and switch. Drill some more access holes and wire that up tomorrow, got to hot and hectic to finish today. Trying to decide if there's any benefit to 2 Group 31 AGM batteries or just leave it with one,now would be the time to add one as its new now. No solar so one probably enough for the minimal use of 12v stuff, water pump, Fantastic fan, range hood, all LED lights and only 10 of them? Don't run everything at once and none for very long then take up camp and move almost daily. Long term plug in shore power, mid term generator. Have room for another easy if it's wise to add it.

DW worked hard at cleaning mildew off of the inside canvas, sure hope we can find a hardside lance 815 by next spring, the pop-up is just not for us anymore.

Installed screen to keep wasps out of the water heater compartment.

After

Did the same to the furnace vent.

If anyone was wondering why...

Fortunately, I didn't find much in the water heater compartment, but I've removed both paper and mud wasp nests in there before. This was the first time the furnace vent was off since the camper was built.
