Yesterdays San Antonio Newpaper had an article about Chesapeake Oil cutting back nearly 50% in their gas drilling and I think it was Phillips Oil (not sure) were quoted as saying they were cutting back. Price of NG has gone from $13+ down to less than $3!!!
So that may be some of the changes in demand. Like I said before, these times do change!

Hope all those waiting get a job soon.
Cuts were all the way from PA to TX. Might look up on the Internet if you can not get yesterdays paper.

One of the reasons we are seeing more rigs drilling here(Eagleford) is because they are shuting down gas drilling in LA and bringing the rigs here to drill for oil. There are lots of new drilling pads being set up. I know that Conoco/Phillips is bringing more rigs in as fast as they can get them. GGS lost all their C/P gates except two I have heard.

Figured I'd join in the fray here. So...howdy from our gate outside of Cotulla. We work for Sitewatch, but worked for GGS previously.

Our first little "temp" gig is just about up, then we'll have at least a few weeks to wait on our next assignment around Tilden. Stay safe out there!!

...........For us singles out here can someone elaborate on the PAY for a single sitting on a gate in south tx ? I'm assuming this would be a 12 hour shift ! Back in Aug '08 I sat on a gate 24\7 by myself and rece'd $125 a day , I can handle a 12 hr. shift , but don't care for 24\7 .
...........Also , how many singles sites are there available vs. the 'couple' sites ? I ask because the activity here , in the DFW area are being closed down , rapidly . , thanks , jf

[emoticon] I see that Feb. 1 brought disclosure to what is used in the Fracking solutions for the benefit of the Environmentalists!!!

Well, it was just what they had said, Sand and water and very small amount of chemicals. So will they quit trying to stop the Fracking?

NO....[emoticon] At least this was in our favor>>>[emoticon]

As for schedules...well this rain has rutted up the road so much that they can not get equipment in or out to finish Fracking and something broke on the unit and they are trying to get it repaired but nothing can make it in to the site. So what should have been done by Saturday at the latest will be????????????

Well, we finally got our first gate [emoticon] We're filling in for another couple for a couple of weeks at last. It's an EOG crew that we'll follow around - and it's busy as all heck! Great first gate I suppose lol - we haven't had a day with less than 4 pages of log entries, so over 100 a day, and if we're following the same crew I don't suspect we'll be getting any of the illustrious easy days I've heard about [emoticon] But we're definitely glad to be on a gate and recouping the money we've put into this (which has added up to quite an investment actually) so we can actually start making money again. I remember reading earlier that EOG was a pain to work with, but so far we've been pretty happy with them - no complaints certainly, but they do seem to have a lot more required of the guards than other companies (other than just being consistently busy!) We're way up north of DFW, anyone else up this far??
