Must haves would be water and food (including coffee). A shovel and some TP.

A battery is nice but not a must have. Less so a generator.

I see your point about food and water. [emoticon] But I wouldn't include coffee as a must have.

Whaaaaaaattttttt?!? Did I read right? No coffee?!? [emoticon]

most important items to carry are DUCT TAPE and an adjustable wrench

First time I've seen duct tape on this thread, and it should be at the top of EVERYONE'S list! Can anybody live without it??

The high lift is also sometimes called a farm jack. Folks say they work well, but they look dangerous -- seems like the vehicle could fall sideways if the user does not know what he is doing (and that describes me for sure).

I can live without it. You should try Gorilla Tape.

and a beloved companion [emoticon][emoticon]

I'm reading various things from the lists in this short thread to my beautiful bride and apparently didn't enunciate this item well enough... she asked, why do you need a BLOW UP companion?

We're still laughing... but there could be a point there.

What happened to the binder with a laminated list of things not to forget, and things to make sure you check before moving on? I keep mine in a binder, on a hook next to the door. Laminated lists and a dry erase marker and eraser in a little pencil pouch in the binder so I can check things off then erase and use again!

A 10" cast iron skillet and a couple of cases of wine. Anything more is just a luxury.
