Sorry to hear about the accident. I love the Avion's and have nearly stopped a couple of times when I have seen one on the side of the road for sale. I need another TC - not really, but would love to have one.

The doc said I missed all the tendons, so I should be able to use it fine, but I'll probably no have any feeling in the thumb, unless God allows my nerves to re-grow and heal themselves. Just waiting and praying that all will be good. Thanks for all the thoughts, Garry Garry K Wife + 4 kids Retired Military Family.... Well as promised, pics of the 1966 AVION C-10 rebuild/remodel... Looking in from the door. Sorry for the mess. ![]() New dinette and cabinets. New 40 gallon water tank will fit beneath the step, and batteries and charger with later inverter will be beneath the forward dinette seat. ![]() New Dinette with storage behind the seat. Later it will also house the hot water heater. Note the fancy contact-paper. I had a whole bunch of old pantry shelves that I ripped down in the table saw for the 1x2's for building the cabinets and walls. ![]() More to follow... Garry |

More pics... Here is the new Bathroom wall. I shifted it aft 3 inches, and shrunk the rear cabinet another 3 inches that allowed me to add the front cabinet and still have a decent length bed at the dinette. Later I may choose to change the dinette, and remove the front cabinet to extend the bed, but for now it still serve our needs. ![]() Here is my new water fill. Much cleaner than the bulky original. Will still need to install a city connection, but haven't decided on type or location yet. ![]() Here is the patch I made for the heater hole. ![]() Now the door doesn't hit the taillight any more, or the old heater shields. ![]() And here is the new water filler from the inside. ![]() I hope you enjoyed my updates! garryk6 wrote: ![]() Well last week and the weekend before I was making great progress on the Avion... Then last Tuesday evening, I was continuing building the cabinets, and was cutting the 1/4" plywood on the table-saw... and the blade caught the plywood, and pulled my right hand into the blade... Well my summer for building, fishing pretty much everything is on hold. Praise God, I did not loose any thing, but I got my right thumb, and fore finger. Finger to the bone with just a chip, Thumb 2/3 through the bone, and 3/4 through the thumb. Good news is I can move both, and have feeling in the finger. Bad news is no feeling in the end of the thumb. Reminder to all, Safety First!!! I thought I was doing it right, but was trying to use a table saw, for what a jigs saw should be used for... Please learn from my mistake, a keep your hands whole. Later I'll post progress pics of the camper, as I did make some good progress. Bad news is the camper and our family vacation is on hold for the foreseeable future. Take Care, Garry Ouch Garry, time to get one of those saw tables with the safety blade that retracts if yer hand comes in contact. Looks like good progress on the interior . Sad about the accident , hopefully all will heal properly . On the framing for the lower cabinets keep in mind what will go above it ( sink , stove , etc ) and behind it ( water heater , oven , etc .) On my C-11 they are not equal spaced cabinets. Also with the storage boxes at either end of the dinette it looks like it will be to short to make a bed with the table down . You have probablly thought this through , just thought I'd mention it. Garry, You mentioned that you had covered your "heater hole" in the back of the camper. When I got mine there had been a similar mod: ![]() Of all things, I was looking at some site in Germany where they restore and sell vintage TCs, especially Airstream. In one of the photos I spotted what appeared to be a backup light in that same spot. So, with that inspiration I did the same thing: ![]() |
