We started back to work today on the Avion. Its been a while since we last pursued the renovation and it showed. Looking through all of the parts still sitting around and scratching our heads on what we were thinking..."how does that fit?" We also discovered that the Fantastic Fan in the old air conditioning slot had developed cracks all around the housing on the exterior. The cracks appeared to be as a result of too tight screws. Maybe. We'll see. That also got us sitting on our heels and thinking of next steps. I've looked into a Rhino coating for the roof, and think that I have to make that decision before I repair the Fantastic fan.

We test fit the Corian countertop today. It fits well, we think, though there are always adjustments. The Stainless steel backsplash will go into place before we finally fit the counter.

Its good weather hereabouts, and we have some down time for a while. I'll let you know of the progress.

Picture of trailer being turned over with tractor. I use to have an overhead hoist which was much nicer.

69 Avion , just an update on the toilet water valve . While visiting my son in Maine this week I stopped at an RV store to look at some valves to see if any were adaptable to the Aqua-Magic 1400 . There sitting on a back shelf is the exact one . It was NOS as they are out of production . The clerk said it had been there for a looong time . The Thetford part number is 09869 .

BTW , that trailer looks plenty stout , nice work

The medicine cabinet takes a 6-3/4"w x 14"h opening.
This is a picture of the interior of the cabinet. It is plastic and very brittle.

You can use wax paper another food wrap. Need to try a couple with the material us will use.. Lay it over the back and then fiberglass it with a couple layers mat ect. Pull apart. Trim and paint, install wood or plastic shelf.. Have made several replacement things like that over the years. Different fiberglass means different kind of paper between. Works well..

Congratulations on finding the valve. I'll bet it had been there at least 30 years.

I just had my horizontal tanks from my 1969 Avion recertified today. They are actually ASME tanks, not DOT tanks and the horizontal tanks don't need the OPV valve.
I repainted these tanks and then I had them tested and topped off. They have had propane in them for about 30 years without being used. The gas company was surpried at how they look new.

Wow, some amazing work going on in here!

I just wanted to drop buy and let you all know that I haven't quit working on mine but ran into some headwinds getting some parts as well as getting some other projects done around the house that needed to get done.

I decided to replace some of the upper panels in the rear corners of my Avion and was working with Cayo to get the parts. Well, at least that is what I was hoping. That was taking forever and I was not getting any results getting the parts and then was entertaining buying a junk camper for the panels. After much thought and time I have decided to do some more patches to cover up the dinged panels. I've come this far doing the polished patch thing so why not continue down that path. Right?! Anyway, I will start documenting my progress again in the coming weeks.

I am looking forward to getting back on task!

Chris
