Got the fridge out today, I get nothing when I try to use it under electric power, no sound at all, checked the connections and all seems good any thoughts? I never worked on a unit this old but I dont see the compressor motor, is it combined in the gas housing? Was just wondering, does the unit have some sort of heating coil system instead of a motor? kinda like glowplugs or something? * This post was edited 06/24/12 09:01pm by BlackFlagForge * |

Was just wondering, does the unit have some sort of heating coil system instead of a motor? kinda like glowplugs or something? It doesn't have a compressor. It used electricity to heat the system just like the propane does. I'll bet it is just fine. I needed to replace mine because the heat cracked all the plastic after 43 years of setting out it the sun. It wasn't feasible to try to fix it. Was yours hard to get out? Mine came out fine but it was a tight fit. I think that I had 1/2" clearance and I had to take the closet doors and bathroom door off, first. My new refrigerator has 1/8" clearance to get it in the camper door. Ford F-350 4x4 Diesel 1988 Avion Triple Axle Trailer 1969 Avion C-11 Camper |

I managed to get it out of the wall ok but to get it out the door I needed to take the front door off of the fridge and pop one corner then the next had maybe 1/4" clearance or 1/8 on each side

I will have to do the same on the new one to get it back in. It is a much tighter fit and it is 10" higher. |

Great pics Garry! Very pretty camper and location! Nice buy BlckFlagForge! That's not the same one you showed us to start with right? When I took my fridge out I had to remove the door of the fridge and the hinge points to get it even close to coming out and even then it was tight. I'm in the middle of rebuilding my door right now and I can see from how out of square the opening to the camper is that there is probably a lot of variation from camper to camper on the size of that hole. New pics coming soon. Happy Camping! Avioncamper.wordpress.com ![]() |

No, the first one I posted wanted 950 and was is horrible condition. I would give him 300 for parts if he calls me back lol. Was working a little on the electrical today getting the AC up and running, changed out my welder outlet for the camper while I work inside so I can have the AC running and outlets if I need them. I dont seem to have any converter in the unit though so that's a little disappointing, the PO had rigged a trickle charger to a car battery that was growing corrosion all over the thing, and at some point someone stripped a 1 inch section of the neutral lead to hotwire the water pump in.. MAJOR fire hazard. Most of that is removed now along with some interior skin to access the wing for wood replacement, hope to get that done this week so I can do some work on the jacks and get them back in shape. |

The PO didn't rig that trickle charger, that is the way they came from the factory. The original trickle charger was a small, green on as I recall. I'm putting a good charger back in, but not an inverter since I will be boondocking most of the time. |

We made good progress today. I finished most of the new water line under the camper. I almost finished the new copper line under the camper for LP from one side to the other. Avion did it in 1/2" galvanized which is against code. So far, so good. ![]() Picture of drop ear "L" for city water connection. It doesn't mount to the fiberglass cover anymore. Now, it mounts to the floor like it should have from the factory. ![]() What floor looks best? Before: ![]() After: ![]() |
