Pay special attention to the remarks about possible shifting of the structure as evidenced by the bulges on the skin. Here's the thing, its very difficult to stay after a restoration. You really have to be in love with the project, have the means to see it through, and have an iron will. Even if you get a coach at a very low price, that doesn't mean that you won't get so frustrated that you walk away from the project. Take my advice for whatever its worth, but I think it is critical to start with a coach in reasonably good shape. And this one looks like it might be a heartbreaker. ![]() |

It reminds me of some of the early pics of my C-10. Although mine was completely a blank slate, and the PO had already gutted and replaced the floor. I ti now functional, but not finished. I will have to watch my weight, as I am over 2000lbs, and probably 2700lbs+ by the time I'm done... Heavier than I wanted, but now I know... I do know that with the way the PO built the new floor, and doubled most of the plywood on the inside, I guess I should have expected it... If you do get it, I have two original water tank fill spouts and caps. Once set real nice and one set fair to poor condition. I updated mine to a marine filler, since I am no where near OEM. If you get it, take some looks of the early pics of my C-10 to get some ideas. I would have really liked to have templates for my rear cabinets, as measuring those curves area a real pain... A question for my fellow Avion owners, do you walk on your roof ? My camper does not have a ladder or a roof rack so I'm curious if you can walk on the roof ? My question is more about maintenance than actually wanting to stand/view from it. If in the future I want to install a solar panel or two just curious if I can walk on the roof ? Also my camper has a center section of the roof maybe 5 foot wide by 9-10 foot long that has a black coating on it. It is not tar based it could be truck bed liner type but it's peeling in a few spots, I assume this is not factory ? I'm thinking of sanding the spots that are lifting and coating with a silver roof coating does that sound good ?

This pic should answer your question about walking on the roof ![]() The roof coating on the center panel is factory , although all the ones I've seen are grey not black . Mine appears to be aluminized roof coating similar to what was used on mobile homes of yesteryear . '68 Avion C-11 '02 GMC DRW D/A flatbed |

Ticki, that is a terrific brochure. I've never seen it before. Is there any way to scan it so that it reads out a bit larger?

I'm thinking of sanding the spots that are lifting and coating with a silver roof coating does that sound good ? I haven't gotten to the roof yet, but I am also wondering about that issue. I talked to a local fellow that recommended using Rhino Liner or Herculiner, or a similar product. The material comes in silver as well as white and other colors. If I knew exactly why that area is treated with the coating, I would feel a lot more comfortable. Anyone know - exactly? It seems like we talked about this once before and reliable Ticki had some good answers. I apologize if I've "misremembered". Also, Ticki, I tried the enlarge the screen shot on the brochure, but I was still unable to read the type. How many pages in that brochure? |
