The "water scoops", as your refering to them are where the upper fixed window and the lower window slide together.
From the factory that channel was filled with caulk before the two windows were assembled.
The corners of the upper window were also caulked before assembly which leads me to believe the glazing vinyl is there just to hold the plexiglas not seal out water.

Dennis , since you have had your windows completely out , were you able to determine what exactly was leaking and where ? I seem to have a very intermittent leak between the two windows that butt together on the street side . It may even be condensation .

Dennis...you are going to become very good friends with that buffer, but it will be worth it because that thing looks awsome.

We stopped working on the Avion in February to get another construction project out of the way. I hope to be finished with that by Mid May or thereabouts. I actually went and picked up the Corian for the counter tops today so they'll be ready to go.

The good news is that I am ever hopeful of getting the Avion on the road. The bad news is that my sweet Jane says we're not traveling anywhere - nohow until the Avion is finished and ready to go. No planes trains or automobiles. Speech delivered while stamping foot.

So, I've definitely got my motivation.

I had so many leaks around the windows there was not one thing I could point to.

When Hehr assembled the windows they caulked everything so 40 yrs. later it was all dried up.

I think what C11 did with the caulking on his windows is a very good way to go, great idea removing the screws and shooting the caulk into the corners.

This week we uncovered a 43 year old practical joke wile working on the marker light bezels. While I was digging out foam so I could buck the rivets on the rear left marker light on the side I found written in pencil, “Betty is a hellbilly from Missourey” with a nice heart around it. And then apparently Betty, or someone, came back and corrected it to read “is a h”I”llbilly from Missour “i”". Written in the dying art of cursive, it probably made someone chuckle as they foamed in the camper. (See pics)

Other than that, I worked more on the marker lights and porch light. I taped up the bezels in the morning and stared at them for a while before deciding they looked good and to just go for it. So we did. I also cut and mounted the bezel for the porch light.

Next, polish and mount lights.

See you were right- ID lights will look good. I was seeing them a lot closer.
Was watching tv epiosode last night about greatest fighter planes--spifires though cool in there stock colors couldnt help but notice all the rivets & plates and wonder what they'd look like polished out...

Lots of warbirds get polished. Now that I have all the tools to do this I might just have to get an airplane that I can polish too [emoticon]That's the next project.

Don't people write like that any more? - I suppose it has been so long since I have seen anything other than my own handwriting I just assumed everyone still wrote like that - must be very slow otherwise.

Where it certainly isn't dying out is Arabic - you see many really beautiful examples in the Arab world - even on boring everyday things.

Yes, your camper would just look wrong without a polished P51 next to it - maybe you can pick up a low mileage one on Craigslist [emoticon]

Actually your camper is now much shinier than that Mustang in the picture.

Steve.
